Car Troubles... help me out

Hey guys, i got my evo a few weeks ago and today i was driving and two things happened. Im kinda nervous about both. The first thing is when i get to 6000 to 7200 rpm something makes a high pictched whisling noise. Kinda like an air leak. I feel a slight de-accel also. I dont have a boost gauge yet so i cant tell you how my boost level drops. Any Ideas?
Second thing. My right 3 gauges in the console go out. No light. The "Lancer", the fuel, and the one above fuel. They all go out. But come back on. I was low on gas, filled up, then they worked for my short ride home. I dont think it should matter, but im just explaining the situation. Please help me out with these problems, im new to imports, and am a bit nervous about the situation. It was pretty hot and humid today to. The car has 29,000 miles. Thanks Guys

Haha, is your stock air intake snorkel fastened down to the front grill? If not, then I know exactly what's happening. Confirm to me that the fasteners are in place (2), then let me know. If they are still there, then I can't think of anything else off the top of my head...

Haha, no way. Man, I JUST resolved this same problem this week. It DEFINITELY IS YOUR PROBLEM. The reason why it only happens at high rpm is because the air flow gets to a point that the snorkel is sucking hard enough to make it stick to the hood, which cuts off your air flow (whistle noise) while starving your engine of air (cuts boost to almost nothing). I spent a week re-installing EVERYTHING in my IC system (upper ic hoses/pips, bov, mbc, vaccuum lines) and doing pressure tests only to find NOTHING but tiny leaks. Yeah, I fixed those, but I never could fine this crazy whistle sound that made me lose power at high rpm. Right when I had decided my stock BOV had broken, I had 2 guys tell me to check the snorkel. As soon as I fastened it down, everything went back to normal.

Go in your trunk and grab two of the reusable fasteners from the trunk liner and put them on your snorkel. Then, go drive your car to redline and watch it return to normal!!
