Custom Lower Arm Bars for Invidia Downpipe!
Custom Lower Arm Bars for Invidia Downpipe!
I just got an Invidia downpipe and found out that neither of the lower arm bars will reinstall after the downpipe installation. After determining that the Cusco V1 or V2 wont fit, from vendor recommendations, I decided to design my own. I needed 6 washers under the factory front (3 bolt hole) bar to get it to fit. On the rear, I needed 4 washers. Each washer is about 2 millimeters in thickness.
With these measurements, I decided to draw up two bars on CAD that would work.
Here are some of the pictures of the bars alone and then mounted to the car. They are constructed out of solid aluminum bar.
Weight on the rear bar:
Stock 1.2 lbs
New Aluminum bar 1.6 lbs
Weight on the front bar
Stock 1.4 lbs
New Aluminum bar 2.0 lbs
I ended up adding 1 lb together with the new bars even though they are aluminum instead of the factory steel tubing bars.

How about fabricating up some sets for your fellow EvoM members?
I'm not picky about them being aluminum. Since they're on the bottom of the chassis, steel will work for me.
Anyone else interested?

Evodave: Thanks!!
Sending the prints off to a machine shop to get them quoted. I might consider getting some made if they interest was there. Would anyone else be interested in these? The higher the quantity, the lower the cost.
Aluminum is quite a bit more expensive than steel.
Steel would be cheaper to make them out of but heavier.

I would be interested in a set if you make them in aluminum? Maybe you can find someone to powdercoat them also? Or do we have someone here on the board that could powdercoat them?

I know a place that will powder coat them not too far from here. I sanded with 220 grit sandpaper, 2 coats or primer, and 2 coats of high temp engine enamel. A little time consuming, but they look pretty good.
I will wait to hear from the machine shop to see what I can sell them for.
