I have both an '03 and an '05. Stock vs. Stock the 05 is definitely torquier. Its noticeably faster, but not a huge amount. But the 05 responded much more to a reflash (both by /Al). With similar mods, the 05 is now much faster. Some of the dyno plots from Al on a MR with just a flash and MBC are awesome, I think there were some around 295whp with just a flash/mbc.

The 05 has a smoother shifter, for sure. But its not as tight or mechanical as the 03. I think its a wash, but its true the 05 is easier to shift for someone who isn't familiar with the car.

ACD works, its changes the character of the car. I find myself clicking it to tarmac for tight corners and clicking back to gravel or snow for long high-speed sweepers. You don't want oversteer in a 90mph sweeper.

But, does anyone know if the spring rates have changed? My 05 is softer than my wifes 03 for sure. Thats my only complaint vs the 03.

This shouldn't really be a surprise, unless none of you read the Drag Racing forum. The 05s are definitely faster in stock form, and that additional power continues to show itself throughout the modding process. Go look at the 3-4 of us with 05s who are getting unprecedented ET/MPH with minimal mods.

For example:

05 GSR w/S-AFC, K&N Cone, TBE, 110oct - 12.29@111
05 MR w/S-AFC, K&N, Cat-Back, MBC, MR DV, 104 oct - 12.22@109-111
05 MR w/Flash, test pipe, 93 oct - 12.65@108
05 GSR w/S-AFC, TBE, 93 oct - 12.45@109

These are just a few examples. Most 03-04s w/basic bolt-ons and cams don't hit 12.2, but the ET is not really as important as the mph. Most cammed 03-04s can and do hit 111-113 even on 93 oct, so they are making great power, but not much more than the ones you see listed here.

I'm not so sure you should be worrying about that...

An MR with cams and a flash, stock downpipe, stock clutch, and pump gas (93) ran 12.26@111.64 in Florida.

How do you own a brand new Evo at the age of 19 if you can't even form complete sentences with even the equivalent of 3rd-grade spelling? I know I'm a known "hater" when it comes to kids owning Evos, but this is just ridiculous. Asking about a "2.3 stocker" when you have a 2-week old 05 Evo and no discernable education is mind-boggling.

Bad tune on his MR perhaps? My et/mph suggests 320whp without being near your mods, but one obvious advantage was my 99oct vs your assumed 93oct.
