catback vs. full exhaust

how much of a difference is there in the sound of just a cat-back exhaust compared to a downpipe, high flow cat, and cat-back? Any one got any sound clips. TIA

Honestly. Your question is too vague. The problem is that every exhaust sounds different. Depending on titanium, stainless steel, size of pipes, silencers, etc. THen you throw in different HFCs and downpipes and the possibilities are endless. Really you should specify specific brands and hopefully you will get a more complete response. Hope I helped a lil.

If sound is what you're going for, then I'd just cut out the resonators and weld in a pipe.

It is a LOT LOUDER. The stock muffler is a great design for those who want quiet at low rpm's and some power at high rpm's but it's a compromise. With a catback it's significantly louder, but the cat still muffles a lot of the noise. Once that goes to a test pipe then it's a big jump in sound. The dp doesn't make that much difference in sound by itself, IMO.

catback vs. full turboback... the turboback is just awesome... but get it catless. or else its just like ehhh

A TBE with a testpipe is loud.

doesn't matter, it depends on how many resonators you have and the muffler.

i would go with the turbo back hands down i got a cat back and i am sick of it i want the whole thing.

It sounds like my car at WOT. Very Loud. I once got stopped on the NJ turnpike for speeding. I was doing 112mph. The cop told me that he had been pacing me for 3 miles and the only reason he caught me was because of a traffic jam. He said that he heard me coming before he even saw me. I once let my friend drive the car and no lie at least 1/2 a mile a way I heard the car. At idle it okay. When I am driving and I have cop behind me, I try not to go above 2000rpm and I shift from 1 to 3 to 5.

My car with an Injen cat-back & Injen test pipe isn't that loud. I mean it's a lot louder, but not loud compared to most exhausts I hear around town.

anything without a cat is generally really really loud. So high flow cat isn't bad..I heard the buscher system with a Magnaflow and a high flow cat...and it's probably as loud as I'd like it personally...

Another friend of mine has the Buscher TBE...of course no cat..and he woke me and my neighbors up one night hitting his rev limiter outside my apartment.
I can also hear him coming about 1/2 mile away.
