I'd Hit It
guy i worked with a few years ago gets a call from a female friend of his that she just hit a goose with her car and needs some help. he is like WTF, so drives out to the scene of the impact to meet her. she was driving a saturn coupe which has a big lower grill opening. he finds her parked on side of the road, but doesn't see any evidence that she has a hit a big bird. she then points him to the grill opening. the entire, still live, 30 pound goose is shoved up in the grill cavity, and then starts honking at him. i wouldn't have believed him if i hadn't seen pics.

Q: What was the last thing that went through that bird's head when it hit the car?
A: It's ***!
Birds are no joke when moving at speed, and when they weigh 20+ lbs they become cruise missiles...
A few years back my girlfriend at the time was driving her high performance Hyundai Elantra on a 45mph road. She was doing around 50-55 mph and it was 2 lanes each way. Well some Ducks were flying across the road at a very low alltitude (Lazy birds!) and sure enough a car coming the opposite way belted one off their front windshield doing about 50mph... I thought "ouch that hurt" then noticed it was catapulting at the other vehicles speed right for us!
That dang bird must have hit the front windshield at over 100 MPH and shattered the glass instantly sending glass shards all over the place. She couldn't see at all so I grabbed the wheel and calmy tried to get her to slow down and pull off the side of the road. Things could have been much worse but I was glad that we came out alive.
The insurance company didn't know what to make of it but the Police stated right on the report that they found a badly mutulated Duck carcass about 100 yards down the road...
