rollcage question

I was just wondering if there are any rollcages that allow room for use of the back seat.

I'm sure I've seen one, I'll see if I can find it for you.

The Cusco is a show cage. There is a "How-To" in that forum for installing the Autopower cage, but you'll be able to see by the pics that you won't be able to carry passengers in the back seat. If retaining the rear seat is just for competition rules, the Autopower can retain the rear seat.

Why in the world would you WANT to carry passengers in a car with a full competition cage?

nubby is correct.

i have full cages in two of my cars. a comp legal cage will have a rear hoop with diagonal behind the front seats. it will also have braces from the hoop back thru the sides of the rear seat area going to the rear shock tower area. this is just describing a "basic" cage. more involved cages will often have X braces and additional cross braces welded in back there, too.

regardless, someone riding in the back seat, if involved in even a small fender bender, would most likely smack into one of the elements of the roll cage and be seriously injured or killed.

i have never seen a Cusco cage being used in a racecar at a sanctioned event (SCCA, NASA, EMRA, etc). i don't think it would pass tech; at least the ones i have seen pics of wouldn't pass tech...

hope that helps somewhat.

well i want a roll cage also, but i also use my car as a daily driver so i can still have passengers in the rear, so if i could get one that maybe a bar could be removable or one that has room for the rear seats

Thats why im looking for one which retains use of the back seat. I would like to be able to drive friends and/or family around comfortably in my car even though it has a rollcage.

What is the purpose of the cage? If you want anything worth while your rear seats are useless. I guess you could remove the autopower and put it back in when you want. Would just be a major pain in the ***.

so there are no cages with like removable bars so you could take out the bars blocking the back seat?

This one here looks to me like it can allow for back passengers to ride.. its not in the way or anything. Maybe just in the way 3 inches when getting in the rear doors.

But, if your in the rear seats in a rollover accident, I haven't seen too many roofs collapsed in the rear seats, unless its REALLY bad. Most of the time the car will flip and the weight of the engine carries the front end down faster causing the front to cave in more.
