Yeah a custom made cage is the way to go. But if you don't mind just a roll bar, RMR have the rollbar with the triangulated bars with a pin that slides outward for passengers to get in and out.

Any cage is going to cause more hurt than safety if you are driving with out a helmet and not fully buckled into a proper racing seat. It is just that many more hard places to bash your head and body parts against. Manufactures go to a lot of work to make all those hard looking interior parts actually safe to bash your head and extremities against in a good wreck. Anyone that has disassembled an interior on an EVO has seen all the supports and reinforcements built into the car.
