competition clutch?
competition clutch?
Well, the time to put a clutch in my car is near. The guy down at the local tuner shop is trying to sell me on a company called COMPETITION CLUTCH, they are a sister company of clutch master from what i understand. The price is right and (stage ll for $595)I'm just not sure what kinda quality I'm gonna get out of it. Has anyone had experience with this company? Thanks in advance!

This question gets asked a million times, and will probably get a million different answers. But, I like the exedy twin. I also found it interesting that the new Road & track Speed magazine had a tuner Evo in it. Forgot which one. It had the ACT single plate clutch, and they tested it in the qtr. mile. The shop owner said he could probably shave .3 seconds off the time if it had the Exedy installed instead. However it costs twice as much as the ACT clutch. I think you get what you pay for.

Man i only wish i was comming into money soon
But since I'm not it sounds like the ACT is way to go over the dual plate from competition clutch although they are in the same price range I'm not looking to do R&D for competition clutch. I want to be assured this company is legit. The guy at the shop was telling me that a guy had a falling out with clutch masters and started this new company (competition clutch) but uses all the same specs that clutch masters use. If I do find some extra $ is it worth the 500 dollars extra to get a dual plate clutch, will they last any longer then a single would. BTW I'm also adding a lightweight flywheel on there while its apart.

This clutch certainly does grab, though. I got it for insurance reasons, but I think it would be pretty good for drag racing too.
