Exactly what I was thinking.

Some thoughts on a blowoff valve, though...
If the car comes with a DV (bypass valve) as opposed to a BOV, it's not the best idea to replace it with a BOV. Why? Because if the car uses an MAF system, the MAF will measure a certain amount of air coming in, but the O2 sensors will measure a different amount exiting the system b/c the BOV will have purged the excess to the atmosphere. As a result, the car won't run quite right.

Some of the VW crowd with 1.8T's have a hybrid BOV/DV which only vents a small portion to the atmosphere -- all so they can get the cool "Pffft!" sound. That still seems bogus to me. I don't see much point in altering the original design. As always, YMMV.

Speaking of intake systems... what does the Evo traditionally use, anyway? MAF? MAP? Other? (Not sure if other systems exist.)

Actually my first inclination is to wait to see whats actually on the car in the way of technology. But the EVO VIII electronics/engine management should be essentially unchanged from the EVO VII.. I would contact the tuners who are already working on the VII to find out what works.

Any idea how hard it will be to take out the extra beams/reinforcement in the bumpers? To go faster, add lightness...

Someone in the aftermarket will make a tubular crome moly replacement that will weigh ten pounds or less. They are already made for several cars.

Ok, don't kill me, this is just a joke but this was an option I considered (and im sure some of you did too!)
1. US Lancer Front bumper
2. US Lancer spoiler
3. start shaving EVO badges!!!
4. Line up at every redlight & laugh at every shmuck w/ intake and exhaust for thinking he has a type R!!!

Would it be worth it... in my area, YES!
No offense to anyone who's first purchases are intakes & exhaust!

First off, if you "like music" you will realize that the soundstage of the interior of a vehicle, especially something like an EVO is the worst possible soundstage you can present yourself. If you "care about music", get a nice home stereo.

Jokers.

Speaking of which? Chrono do you know of any vendors doing this for DSMs???

I see you have a 1g and our bumpers are very heavy... but my car is driven on the street and the risk/return when it comes to safety in that aspect makes me leave those heavy bumpers on!!!

I'm not worried about driving out of my way to go to a school. Not like there's any in Fresno anyways Besides it's a chance of a lifetime right

So where do you live in CA Trancer? Sears Point is the name of the raceway right? (Not familar with all the racing school stuff)

The only SMART person here. Going to drivers school will allow you to appreciate the car sooo much more. However, I'd forgo the tint as most drivers schools won't let you drive with tint as you need to be able to see OUT of the windows to see others. Not to mention the EVO already has tinted glass. How much darker do you need.

Also, for those of you getting your EVO's and are yanking the stereo's don't be silly. You all complain about the car weighing so much yet you are gonna put some piece of crap stereo in that won't sound right and will probably weigh more than the factory one. Com'mon guys get with the program and spare the car the hacking that's coming. It kills me to read that guys are going to hack their cars even before they have it in hand. How about driving it and enjoying the wonder that the EVO is before you decide that your gonna peel it apart to compete with your Honda buddies as to has the coolest stereo's. Hehe!
