I keep seeing posts from some people that are slightly rude about how the 05 is so much better than the 03/04. Some things are better when not said! IMHO they are all EVO's and the name Evolution means exactly what it implies. So of course the EVO should get better year after year, it is an Evolution after all!


What do you like and or dis-like about the different year models of our EVO's?

Well the 03s had a lower retail price so they were less expensive to purchase compared to the 04 and 05. In addition, the 03 had the HID standard and the intercooler sprayer while on the 05 the HID are an option (which is part of an expensive package) and the intercooler sprayer is not even offered.

But in its place, the 05 get a better turbocharger and get ACD. Depends what you are looking for I suppose.

I subscribe to the simpler is better ideology. Therefore, I don't need the ACD or the 6 speed tranny on the MR. Heck, I barely even use the intercooler sprayer on my 03!

 

I love the smooth 6spd tranny.
I love the improved turbo.
I love the resulting increased hp and incredible ease of modding.
I love going 12.2 for less than $1k in mods.
I love the special, rare color.
I love the front LSD.

I hate the fact that 4th gear maxes out at 111mph keeping me from 11s.

 

I love the fact that I bought my car with the current mods in my signature on it and they were only on for a few thousand miles. In addition I know/trust and have been great friends with the prior owner for 7-8 years.
I love the intercooler spayer even if it doesn't serve a huge difference.
I love my HID head lights.
I love the fact that mine doesn't have the sunroof.
I love the simple AWD just point and shoot handling of this thing.

For me I bought this 04 after the depreciation, already tuned and all of that for an awesome price.

What is the special rare color?

 

Graphite Grey is the special color exclusive to the MR. They're all incredible no matter which year you choose.

 

The MR was offered in the purple/mica/grey color which wasn't available to the other trims.

EDIT: personally I like my 04 RS most of all because it has no electronically controlled transmission or braking componants.
