I put Gram Light 17x8.5's with stock size tire and got a similar effect. I like it. It looks nice but doesn't help much for performance as I am not getting a larger tread pattern. My friends say it makes the car look nicer and blends better with the fender lines. Not quite as extreme though.

Yeah right that's a lot wider than even stock rolling rubber on the rear of a Corvette. I think you meant 255/40/17.

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't those tires sticking out like that throw rocks on the fenders and side of the EVO? Mine did on the Z when I went bigger!

Mine do not because there is no tread that sticks out that far. Only rounded sidewall but any wider and I could definitely see that happening.
