I had an Ecutek done after I added some cams and I could tell a big difference over the Dynoflash. The cams probably played a big part in it, but they were able to do a few extra things with the Ecutek like making the i/c water sprayer give longer sprays. They also were able to remove the rev limiter.

Based on the dyno chart you posted above and the information in the link Jamie posted, it sounds like there's no way to hold more than 21psi to redline on the factory boost solenoid without adding some sort of hardware like a pill, bleed or boost controller. Is that correct, or have you been able to hold higher boost levels to redline with the EcuTek flashes using the stock boost solenoid?

You must remove the restrictor pill, that is closes to the solonoid.

I only hit 109.5mph with a 1.95 60' (clutch not holding) and ran 12.95. Now breaking in an Exedy twin disc and also added a JDM MR DV. Hopefully will get some better results. I also weighed my car on a certified scale tonight and with me in it, it was 3400lbs.

I'll let you know how things work out. Nice times by the way

Did Rich at DynoComp tune your EVO VIII? I had mine done by him on Monday and the performance gains are phenomenal...but what I was most impressed with was the consistant top end performance...with just induction kit, downpipe, cat-back, and recirculation kit, I am hitting 280 at the wheels on his dyno, which he said was about 370 at the crank becasue the DynoDynamics dyno is a very conservative dyno...WORTH EVERY FOCKIN' PENNY...I have yet to fill up on 101 yet, I am still running arizona pee-water!!

Dynoflash vs Ecutek,

what is your take on it, Al and Al only? maybe Doug?

I wanna know the difference between them, specifically for knowledge based. Sorta confusing, if you don't know. you know?

It was a few months ago that Ecutek was the only flash available that could control boost with the stock solonoid. However Dynoflash is always working to bring the best possible flash to his customers and has unlocked the same feature in his software. My understanding now is that only thing that makes the Ecutek software superior is the actuall tuning interface. Also Ecutek is always working on new features, that can be unlocked out of the stock ecu. So maybe in a few months/weeks it will be different. As of right now though Ecutek is working on a end user flash version. That will allow the customer to flash his own ecu with different maps. So the customer can have a race gas map and pumpgas map, and switch between the to. Or if he needed to bring the car in for service he could flash the ecu back to stock. I would imagine there will be alot more people next year running ecutek, as it seems Ecutek will be the only option out for quite some time to flash the Evo9 and newer models. I personally love the Ecutek, and do on avg about 6 a week. I'd have to admit most are Subaru's but that will change soon with the newer evo's coming out.

AL did I forget anything?

I guess I don't need to call Ecutek because it seems you have. It also seems that there isn't any release date as of yet. I will call them next week and see if there is an exact release date for this piece to allow end user to change between flashes.

I personally bought the Ecutek over the regular flash for the ability to switch between flashes and control boost. A few weeks later after mine was installed, Al figured how to control the boost with his regular flash. Regardless, I was thinking that I would be able to run programs for the track, autox and daily driving.

BTW, 2 track days at Pocono beating the living snot out of my car and not one problem with the way it ran. First time I went there was a stock 03 who was running and blew a headgasket by end of day.

most of the reflash setup on the market is based on the Techtom software. Old school but reliable.

The ECUTEK is more advanced and is a good tuning platform as well.
