Aftermarket HID install on non-HID 05 EVO 8 failure.
you go pass 6000k, you are losing brightness.
the color gets darker. and you won't see any better than your stock headlight bulbs.
i had 6500k, 8000k, and 12000k.
12000k you don't see anything. <--- it's like driving with your blinkers on.
8000k you don't gain any visuality
6000k you get some visuality with purplish color.
5000k is the best if you are only looking at the brightness. you will see everything on the road.
anything above 6000k is for the show only...

I installed the HID's tonight. Yes i took off the bumper w/o any damage etc, removed the oem headlight assembly and carefully popped in the hID bulbs.
i put everything back together and put new 20 amp fuses in the fusebox for the low-beam lights and fired her up.
Overall the HID's look good and look kinda like the S2000 HID's or even the BMW HID's. Now I just need to compare them to the OEM EVO HID's...

i took off my bumper too but all i did was swap out the standard yellow bulbs with a set of $50 bulbs "bluezone 4200K" that are blue and the wattage is 55W are stock bulbs are i think 51W i hope 4W does'nt melt the plugs i don't think so right?
the blue bulbs are not as bright as the yellow one but its not that bad and its not yellow

I installed the 20 amp fuses based on past experiences with the HID kits i had on my 95 Integra GSR.
In addition i referred to the oEM owners manual and was able to see that HID equipped EVO's already use the 20 amp fuse, so I figured, what the heck, I'll upgrade to be on the safe side.

On the passenger side I mounted the ballast behind the oil cooler. I used zip ties to secure it to the back of the oil cooler.
on the driver side I secured it to some pump like looking device behind the front bumper. Its out of the engine bay so it should be cooler there
Its raining out now, I promise I will post pics of my HID's soon.

Humm, I could have mounted my ballasts there as well, but I wanted to keep it away from engine bay heat
