Turning a RA into a Evo? Can it be done

Hey, i live in canada, and i buy theft recoveries and damaged vechicles from the states. I would love to own an evo but it is illegial to import one for the street use in canada. So i was wondering if i could swap the body panels, and engine+ drivetrain from a damaged evo (rear end damge) into a normal lancer. has it been done? Super hard? and costly? or does it mostly bolt in? thanks for any help guys !!

Ill turn your RA into an 2003 Evo for $25k. It'll even say "Evolution VIII" on the title. ask me how.

LOL nice.

Sure, you can turn anything into an Evo with the right amount of know how and money.

Now realisticly, it would be cheaper to just buy an Evo, even a new one. And remember, since you'll be modifying the RA so much, your insurance would have to be specialized for a custom car. It won't be an RA anymore, that's for sure.

Sell the RA, buy the Evo. Or if you're broke, keep the RA and look for a better job.

EDIT: D'oh, I jumped the gun. You can't buy an Evo. That's what I get for paying attention.

I'm sure you can do the engine, but the drivetrain and body panels would be too much work. Can you get an STi up there? That would be a better choice.

Huh? Did you even read what he said? The guy lives in Canada where Evos are illegal, so he can't just buy an Evo...

Yhea, I did read it. Hence my post being edited before yours appeared.

Good job offering him help though, always fun to play with the trolls.

well, there was one guy who did a lot of stuff to his ra in canada.

but instead of trying to turn it into an evo, why not try to turn it into something unique?

it'll be a lot cheaper than trying to make it into an evo.

that's motor swap, turbo, manifold, tranny.

not to mention the aluminum suspension components that's hard to come by and more weldings on your frame.

i don't think it's illegal in canada. it's just not there, since they don't get it imported.

They aren't street legal in Canada because they don't pass crash speed requirements on the front bumper if I recall correctly.
