Looks like no racing for Friday or Saturday at NRP. It's a good time to hang at Buschur's though. Sometimes the partying at the shhotout is more fun the pressures of racing.

With all due respect and reverence, me being a solid 325 pound guy, I do not think it is reasonable for you to speak of any weight saving advantages that I may have. I have to be at least 150 lbs heavier than you and that disadvatnage is nearly impossible to make up without destryoing the evo.

As for the small brakes, you should know that they actually weigh more than the factory brembos, expecially since I have bone stock 2nd gen rotors and calipers.

As for the tires, I think the BFG drag radial is equal to the hoosier DOT - the BFG is a really good racing tire.

In any event - the 150 lbs human advantage is hard to make up on the car and basically the only way I can overcome that is with tuning and engine power. This is why I have moved away from bolt on kits and parts and started to make my own set up as power is key.

Also - you should know that my car has never driven once down the full track with NOS and no exhuast - the only time I tired my battery broke.

Being the week before the shootout a ride to test and tune tonight is not prudent as I must travel to Puerto Rico this weekend for car tuning and that leaves me with little time to prepare for the big event.

As for the NOS and exhuast - in light of this thread and the associated discussions I felt it was prudent to query some of my sponsors and ask them their input on what they want me to do at the shootout. After all it is their name on my car and their products which I am showcasing. The feed back that I have recieved is that they would prefer if I go out and compete in the head's up class with the other evos and save the NOS for the following week at the WRX vs. EVO shootout in Englishtown where I have a match race against the famous BIG VALLEY STI from Puerto Rico.

Therefore, I must say thank you to all of those who have voted in this thread. I appreciate your input and guideance. This dialouge has been most helpful in directing me in an appropriate path. Mr. Borwn, you can look forward to my participation in the Evo head's up class this year. Best of luck to all.

Mr Al, this is what I was hoping for. That is why I waited until the last minute and now there is no need to vote. I think you made the right move and your sponsors are right on the money. Good luck to you sir.

:
2g DSM calipers and rotors certainly weigh less than the stock EVO brakes. Its actually significant. I'll dig up the numbers.

If I lived in the midwest I'd so be all over this... Regardless of the outcome we all want to see how it ends up.

Anyone who is a part of this thread have plans to take a vid camera?

I will be taking an extremely good video camera. I am very disheartened at hearing that you will not being pushing the Nitrous in the runs though... that still does not seem like any sponser would want that. Why not run the nitrous at BOTH events? No offense again but I dont believe ANY sponser would want you to run slower at any event. On top of that, wouldnt it make sense to get some good runs in with the nitrous enabled to work out any bugs? I dunno, seems strange to me. Anyways, as far as weight savings are concerned, I dont really think it matters too much on driver wieght as no one considers it too much but even if they do it would be wet weight with driver. I always assumed that for every 100lbs it eqautes to be close to 10hp difference. Therefore a car with 1000 lbs less could run the same with 100 less HP. Maybe i am wrong but that is a 15 hp difference. Between any run to run I probably lose more than that. 15 horses on a 700+ horsepower car can't truly make too big a difference IMO

Also, as I said before, I am quite sure that Adam will be there running Cosmo's car. I would assume it will be in the nines as well.

I will be running my car also but still cant compete with your setup yet. Gimme a few more months and maybe we will see I will probably be more concerned with pushing my new race car in the nines as opposed to my daily driven EVO but who knows Would you be up to running against a 1985 RX7 in the near future?
