I won 4 of the 5 races I entered this year and the 5th I was in the finals. No one remembers all the races I was in last year either.
Racing is a lot of fun - but usually you have to work your way through the rounds with a bit of stategy and you are not making your all out passes. When the rules of the event are limiting your speed potential you really dont get to see the cars run as fast as you can.
Norwalk is one of the few tracks I can get away with 9 second runs without being kicked off which is a nice feature
Also - I weight 300 lbs and I have a very heavy roll bar its not that fun racing against 140 lb guys who have no roll cage at all in the car - that gives them a 250 lbs advantage right off the batt. Without NOS and with a full exhuast is just seeming so slow for me these days.
I am more into the mental challenge of setting up the two step, anti lag and NOS set up to maximize the available power. I have already been running 10.10 times for almost a year now with my GT35R.

But - the prospect on beating up on some of them salty old DSM dawgs with their old pile drivers is becomming appealing also
This year I cant really give them a serious challenge - but I am starting to think a mid to low 9 second evo 8 is possible
Basically - I could not make up MY mind - so trhe FINAL VOTE on this thread will decide which class I join !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Run for the record at Norwalk Friday or Saturday and run some heads up racing with us, it will be fun. I would think you would fair ok against Dave's new car, AMS's cars and my car, hell im still on radials and am near the same weight, I have a cage also, heavy tires and all steel body parts.

Run class A!
You will have plenty of time prior to the event and after to spray it and try for the record.
Records are fun but healthy competion feels better in the end.
GRAB A LANE AL! LOL see you at the shootout.

Al,
If it was my car, it would not be a hard decision. Heads-up! You can break the record anytime, but how often will you get the chance to race against some of the fast guys all in the same event? IMO, it would be more fun personally. I choose option A! At least that's what I'll be watching.

Frankly, I am just bored with the competition. I love the DSM shootout for the friendly comradery and good sprirts but I really do not like the Evo heads up class non-ladder style of racing and quick hot laqs towards the end of the race. I really like a quick field style of racing and having to QUALIFY. That is why the Q 16 is so appealing - I know I will loose but who cares I am just going to have fun.
Finally, my car is such an all out monster at this point the way it sits the touught of de-tuning it to go to a "race" seems very counter productive and unsporting of me. I do get the idea of uniform rules in races its a good thing but somehow the all or nothing BONZAI mother ****er death pass is something I am caught up on.
Its all just bad timing as last week I was all set to make a time attack at ATCO when my two year old mini battery decided it had seen one hard launch too many. It was very frustrating. Now I am headed to Chicago to tune and I am booked all of next week and every day till the shootout.
All I can say honestly is that life is good when tis is the kind of dilema you face !
