Guys is this normal 3

I have done so much research on this topic. Ok I wonder how come my friend's WRX blowoff valve goes off when he's just in the parking lot and stepping on the gas without moving foward. Other say that the Evo won't do that. And that the Evo has to be actually moving foward and the boost has to kick in; in order for the blowoff valve to set off. He is running a HKS SSQ BOV . VTA. is there a reason to this? Or do i actually have to get a BOV that will aloud me to set off my BOV by just stepping on the gas. Or is it because his engine is diffrent from ours? I have decide and i'm probally gonna get the HKS SSQ and if i have any idle problems or stalling i will plan to get the HKS IDLE STABILZER. Or until something better for Evo is suggested . To get the Sound just like the WRX . I know how this all sounds. But i guess it's just a trial and error for me. because It's my first turbo car. Let me know what u think. I did hear that the Turbo XS RFL is really loud i like that alot. loudness. but a motorsports shop told me they are cheap and break in time is that true? So he suggested to go with the HKS .....

get an HKS EIDS and BOV and you can do that too. VTA is just noise though. Sounds cool, that's all.

I also dropped in a k&n filter and have this little howl sound that i beleive is oem bov thats barely heard between gear switch. Overall i wouldnt recommend gettin it but thats just me, good luck

you need a vta bov if you want that sound. your stock one is a diverter valve so it's barely audible, unless you get an open element intake.

what year is your evo? because their was a big discussion on if the 05 can VTA without problems, i have had my agency power BOV for about a month now, both recirculating and vta and i have had no problems what so ever. also during VTA it sounds bad *** check into that.

heck, with an intake, and an recirc, you hear it just fine, borderline too loud for me.

I had the HKS SS BOV VTA. You can blow off by just reving the engine. But my car stuttered on the freeway at certain throttle positions. But it sounded real good though. But just like EVOL 8 said "it's just noise". I now have a Forge recirc BOV. I could still blow off by reving but I'd have to rev harder. But no more stutter issues.

Why do people need to do this? Why is it becoming every-other post is about a VTA BOV and "how do I get that Fast and Furious sound like my cousin's brother's uncle has?"

Look, this needs to be set straight, a BOV is an important part of a EVO, it helps it to run right, helps idle, helps between shifts, etc. If the ECU does not see this air that has been recalculated when the BOV "blows off" your car will run rich and stumble between shifts and at idle. You WILL lose power. I have seen this on the track once before when an EVO ran a 17.xx. It was an embarrassment for all EVO owners that night, all because the guy wanted the BOV sound.

So, in Summary, a BOV is not for sound, to look cool, to scare small children/elderly people, or get you laid. It has purpose, and without purpose..... well you know.

Good lord, man, how many freakin threads are you going to make on this retarded subject? WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR FRIEND? WHO CARES ABOUT HIS WRX? WHO CARES ABOUT LOUD BOV'S??? It's the dumbest thing in the world to ONLY WANT A BOV THAT MAKES LOUD NOISE, especially when you have _NO_ other mods. Spend your money on something that MAKES YOU FASTER or that is useful without being a VTA fanboi! You are driving a MITSUBISHI EVOLUTION, not a Honda!! I already told you this once....

HKS SSQ BOV is a pull push type. it opens when there's a manifold pressure change, even if it's slight. you're not going to build alot of boost just sitting there and reving your engine, there's no load. but there will be some minor boost build up and you will hear the BOV open.
