how good is this deal?

What is a clutch "pack"? I don't know what that is. Hopefully, what I've done doesn't count as "excessive launching." I did wear out my stock clutch, as you know from my ACT purchase from you, but I hadn't heard of not experienced a problem with the ACD in relation to launching quite often (auto-x and drag).

Actually good drivers/launches are running high 13's for stock S2000s. I have seen slips for some 13.7's. What's the best a new stock evo8 gets in the quarter with a good driver?
Also, from what i have seen a stock S2000 will take a stock evo, if only by a bit, from a 70mph roll to 140mph, due to their gearing and 6 speed. This is also borne out by vids showing stock S2000's keeping up with stock Sti's, again from a roll.
And by the way, I would def go for the deal. I paid 32K for my SSL one week b4 the interest free financing came on offer
The S2000's just feel slower cause vtec doesnt seem to pull aswell as 20 psi boost. U cant judge a how fast a car is by the seat of your pants.
Granted, if u spend 1500 bucks on a set of cams and a reflash for the evo, u will eat them alive. The only real way to make power serious enough to beat a modded evo or sti in an S2000 is to spend 6K on an Forced induction kit.

the ACD sucks for launching so unless he's into autocrossing its not worth it
The front LSD is nice
The Trunk is the same as 2003 and 2004.
The Roof is Steel, its not a MR or an RS
The Hid's are not a simple swap at all, better off just buying an HID kit,

I just came back from a dealership with a friend who wants to trade his eclipse for an evo. He is trying to get the car financed at 0% due to the special offer that just started.
The salesman said, "no interest so sticker cost + 10% for taxes".
Please help me understand this better.

It's really not close, and it wouldn't be close in a 70-140mph pull either. I have the 6spd, and it would HURT me in a 70-140mph roll, because 4th ends at 110 and 5th is a dog. 5spd Evos can go all the way past 120 in 4th, so if the S2K has 6 gears, too, I'm not sure how its gearing would help in this situation.

IDK what the dealer did to my car but i have a 2005 GSR and i've since changed to a 2004 NON lsd T-case that was gone over by TRE because he said thats the best for drag racing. The dealer, who also broke my tranny, must have put some garbage in my stock t-case because it blew 300 miles after i got it from them. and that was with no launching in between. Auto-x wont hurt it, thats where it shines, but the 05 t-case is not designed to be dragged. Thats probably half the reason we have this dumb 5k rev limit which kills our 60ft times. Its just too much for the clutch packs. Maybe GEARS (Jon from TRE) will chime in and discuss this further because he can describe it best.
I noticed i can launch harder on my stock rims though since i took the 19's off.

ARE YOU JOKING?
Lmfao dude you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Ive DESTROYED a total of 3 S2000's. Dont even tell me they're faster than an Evo, a good friend of mine has an s2000 and he gladly addmits that it cannot come close to the Evo stock for stock.
I'm just going by what people have been saying on the S2Ki forum. I'll find the threads and post them. From what I heard the evos lose a lot top end which is why these people are saying they can match an S from a fast roll. These are guys who own evos and S2000's saying this, so why would they lie? I havent had my ECU reflashed yet, but the fact that this alone will add 20whp leans to the fact that stock evos arent that well tuned and fast.
Either way, hopefully I'll prove myself wrong when the evo gets broken in
Perphaps I have been misinformed
AS for the winter question, I never tried my S in the snow, although there are people from places like toronto and minesota that say they drive them all year round. I wouldnt like to try it, even with studded tires. The rear ends are twichy in the dry, let alone in the snow. I went for the evo so I could drive it all year round, here in the North east.

well I posted the question in the S forum, so lets see if any hard evidence pops up.

I had a 2001 S2000 and now I drive an 03 EVO. I must say that the two cars are totally different (not suprisingly). The s2000 felt terrible unless it was in vtec. I mean horrible. God forbid the AC was on. However, once the car was above 6000rpm it was pretty fast. Third gear and above in vtec was sweet... Now the Evo is the opposite. 1st - 3rd gear pulls amazing. The car is very fast off the line. Once it reaches fourth gear it does not seem to pull as hard as the s2000 did. IMO the s2000 was faster on the highway and the Evo is faster light to light. My s2000 was bone stock. My evo has an 3" DP, 3" Exhaust (next is the test pipe), Profec B set at 21lbs, fuel pump, and a KN cone filter. I know I need a flash, but I can only speak for what I have at this point.
The evo is my 6th car. I had a 95 eclipse GSX, 95 Integra GSR, 00 Integra Type R, 01 CLK 430, 01 S2000, and now the Evo. So my opinion is not biased. The evo is deffinetly the quickest of the bunch, but i think the s2000 was faster (for now) being that I live in FL the heat really slows the evo down. During the day, the car is a pig. At night, it is deffenetly a monster...
Hope this helps
