i have a 04 with about 12000 miles i stop in 
just to check out what deals are going on and they offered me $23000 for mine and $27500 for a brand new one not a demo no ssl option it seemed pretty good to me only 4 and a half G's out of pocket that meens new clutch and new brakes/tires and new car 
what do you guys think i should grab it?

gsr is what we call the reg model evo8 over here even though the US Mitsu motors doesnt "officially" call it a gsr. Over in Europe and japan its called a GSR.
SSL means Sun, Sound and Leather package. for 2005 this package also includes HID's
Sound system consists of an amplifier and a stock 8" sub with better door speakers
BBYouevo8 just make sure you know that this 2005 evo wont have a sunroof, leather or HID's.

SSL= Sun(moonroof) Sound(upgraded single in-dash cd made by Infinity+ a sub woofer + an amp.. i believe puts out something like 350watts..and finally.. "L" Which means Leather..

and i also checked out the s2000 i got them down to 29G's sticker price $33
but then i test drove it and it was an absolute DOG slow as $h!# ac was on but damn i pretty much redlined it and never felt the vtec crossover that car is out of the question i thought i could get by in the winter because low amount of TQ i think it is 162 and HP 240
but way to slow

No, it's not a simple swap. If you own your Evo outright, then I don't even see why this is an issue? You are getting a superior 2005 for a $4500 difference, which includes all the new wear items like you mentioned: clutch, tires, brakes. Plus, you get all the upgrades: 10.5 hotside, ACD, FLSD, aluminum roof/trunk.

No, it's not a simple swap. If you own your Evo outright, then I don't even see why this is an issue? You are getting a superior 2005 for a $4500 difference, which includes all the new wear items like you mentioned: clutch, tires, brakes. Plus, you get all the upgrades: 10.5 hotside, ACD, FLSD, aluminum roof/trunk.
the ACD sucks for launching so unless he's into autocrossing its not worth it
The front LSD is nice
The Trunk is the same as 2003 and 2004.
The Roof is Steel, its not a MR or an RS
The Hid's are not a simple swap at all, better off just buying an HID kit,

ACD sucks for launching according to whom? Not according to me and those other 05s who are ripping off low 12s on stock cams, including low 1.7x 60's on the stock clutch. What part of launching does the ACD affect negatively?
I thought either the roof or the hood was different between the 05s and previous models. Both are aluminum on the 05s...I thought one was not on the 03/04s. Yes/No?

ACD works great, but the clutch packs blow after excessive launching. They perform well but wont hold up. ask TRE
