I don't know if both cars can be identical but I'm betting on the 'hammer the crap' one to be on top

I typically check the oil in my Evo every single time before I go to start it up. I know that may be a bit overkill but id rather be safe than sorry. Of course, mine isnt a DD either.

I broke in mine hard, and have had very little oil consumption. (much less than half a quart every 5k miles.) I also check my oil every fuel stop.

My oil levels have been fine for the first 1200 miles now but I have noticed that the oil gets dirty fast. I had the oil changed at 1000 miles and it was dark. 200 miles later, it is darker than I would think it should be. I'm not too concerned since it's breaking in.

It still wouldn't matter, every engine is built to different tolerances. I think it's a matter of just luck.

*sorry abuot bumping a couple month old thread.

I change it around 4-4.5k, Mobil 1, never leaked a drop, burnt a drop.

My 95 GSX was the same. When it met the front of a minivan it had 120k, never leaked a drop of oil..

As far as break in goes, I never abused mine, but I ran it up to 7k a few times before the magical "1000 mile" mark.

The color of the oil coming out is the same as it is going in.....
Your oil comes out the same way it goes in huh, I dont think so, Lets not push it.
Every car burns some oil, some more than others...

Never have to put oil in. I check it every 1-2k miles just in case and it is always at the same level. During my brake in, I made substantial positive boost several times but never went over 5k.

This oil consumption may not be a seal problem. There is other ways for oil to get burned. PVC line on some cars and if your evo is consuming oil check this. Remove the rubber line on the drivers side valve cover that leads to the intake. I bet there will be oil in there. The vac from the air moving pulls some oil though the line some cars none, some alot. this line in the evo flows almost straight down hill helping the flow.

Mine seemed excessive at first but now it uses very little. Give it a little more time.

44K on mine I never notice that I burn so much as a drop. I drive it hard too.
