Check my engine oil today!!!!!!

My car was almost totally out of oil; moreover, my car only has 3k on it. Is this normal for Evos to burn that much oil in 3K miles???? I read the owners manual and it did say that it is normal for the engine to burn oil when going up hill or when your are driving hard. I had to put three quarts of oil in the engine!!!!

mine eats a good bit too... Supposedly it's normal to consume up to 1 quart every 1000 miles.

That sounds like something may be wrong. I drive my car hard and it doesn't eat oil. Check for a leak.

thats a little excessive... 2000 is more normal.. is your oil pan empty, or is there just no oil on the stick... oil consumption is sometimes excessive until breakin is done..

I am going to get the free oil change at 5K, and when I'm there I'll asked the geniuses at the dealership to check for any oil leaks, and I'll also ask if this is normal.

Yea there was no oil on the dipstick!!!!!!!!

If after 3k is the first time you've ever checked your oil, then it's possible that nothing is wrong at all. It may have been underfilled when you bought it. Just make sure to keep checking on it. If you had a leak, you'd know it because you'd have about 2 quarts of oil in the garage or driveway. Check your parking spot at work and such. I know I'm not leaking and I consume a good bit of oil. It's just one bad thing about our cars.

Thanks the THEgame I thought the same thing you did about the engine not being filled with enough oil ,and this was my first time checking it!!!!

The only reason I did check it was because my friend with an STI said that he needed a oil change. haha

A well broken in car should not burn much oil, if any at all. If you've been out driving the bejesus out of it since you took delivery, or if you were not the first owner, get used to it because its going to be that way for that engine's lifetime.

Smile wow...

it's common for some oil to burn. but 1 qt every 3000 miles seems like too much to me. seems like the 4G63 is like the 13b rotary engines!
My dsm has 127000 miles on the stock 7 bolt block and it burns maybe .2 quart every 3000 miles. Have your local delearship check out your evo
