AMS turbo

Well i have about 5k to put into the car this month, it's stock atm besides a few gauges and Downpipe. I have 2 ways i can go about spending it and need some more opinions before i blow this money.
1st:
Im considering buying the AMS turbo kit because its rare i can spend this much at a single time. My question is, what would i be spending to run the AMS turbo safely on a stock engine, would it run well with just a SAFC II, and DP on the car, or would i need a bigger IC, injectors and such?
2nd:
Go with normal upgrades, cams and such, nothing major.

Any feedback would be great, thanks.
BTW, there is no limit to where this car is going, i hope to bring it well into the 10's in the future, so even if buying the turbo now and waiting to install it, when i have money for other items.

Id say go with normal upgrades at first. This way you keep the drivability and reliability of it. The way im going is im maxing out the stock turbo first that way my car is built to handle a new turbo by the time i want to add one.

Lets see....for 5 grand you could get:
cat back exhaust
AEM EMS (a definate if you want a turbo upgrade)
cams and cam gears
boost controller
headstuds
injectors
ic piping
intake
fuel pump
and a few other goodies

Dont forget that if you want a lot of power youre going to need a new clutch to handle the power.

i'm kinda on the same boat as you, but i dont have as much to spend, and i was thinking about doing the BR GT35R kit, or doing some bad a** coilovers and then maybe some wheels, cuz i've already got an aem ems, cams, intake, exhaust, and i'm still on stock clutch and fuel system, but i dont know what to do....

With the AMS turbo kit you would be going well over the $5K mark. You would easily be up to $6K+ if you wanted your car to be drivable. Definitely start with the supporting mods and then go all out with the turbo upgrade. You will then be increasing the turbo's potential. The list that nnorris had was perfect and definitely more affordable at this point.

By the way, do you always have $5K to drop into your car every month?

5k isnt going to be enough to have an ams turbo upgrade. Thats going to be 8-10k depending how you go about it. (this considering you have stock car)

I road race (for fun) and my buddies all have M3's, Porsches C4's and Z06's and I was just getting hammered on the straight. I had Turbotrix put in an AEM EMS, nothing else. Not even exhaust and the car gave 300 to the wheels even. If you add up all the little things, they'll add up to more than the cost of the AEM and you can run it alone. I think it's the best for the money.
