Stage 1 Evo vs. Lightly modified STi

Hey guys,

I'm getting stage one done next week (catback, boost controller, afc, intake). How will I stand up to an STi with the same mods? I've heard that Subie's are finnicky about mods, but haven't really done any research.

It'll probably come down to who can launch better. Pretty even match up machine wise.

Comes to driver. Evo and STi are pretty much equal rivals. Anyone who tells you that the Evo will smoke the STi doesn't know the capability of the STi. And I'm an Evo owner. But it is true that the Evo is mod friendly and gets more benefits.

I dont know how the 03's are compared to 05's, but my car is stock and ive beaten every sti ive raced, about 6 or so all stock as far as i know. The evo is a faster car from the get go, and reacts better to mods, so you should beat a sti with the same mods with ease.

Doesn't the STi COBB Tuning Stage 2 give it an extra 40 or so WHP (Exhaust, Accessport)?

05's are obviously quicker. There is someone on these boards who just has a TBE and SAFC and ran a 12.2 in the quarter.

If you are racing in a 1/4 mile run,i'll go with the evo.but you are racing in the highway maybe the sti have upper hand other than that its the driver we depend on not always the cars mods or no mods.

it all comes down to driver like everyone else is saying, my buddy had an intake and exhaust on his sti and ran a 12.5@108 and then he did a fmic, bigger turbo, injectors, and an ems and was still running the same times as he did with just an intake and exhaust, if it were an evo, it prolly would have hit mid to low 11's, so depending on what year it is, you'll be evenly matched

It should not be a problem. I have beaten 10+ Sti's and counting and have not yet lost to one.. Ive raced an Sti w/ tbe, header/uppipe/fmic/mbc/intake and i beat him by a car with the mods i have now except i had stock dp at the time, we ran again after i installed the dp and i put 1 1/2 car. And mine is an 03, with an 05 it be even better

Why are 05's running so much faster? The only thing i can think about is the 10.5 hotside, is it that much of a difference?
