Now plese don't glame me for this, but i am about to receive the defi guages and one of them is an EGT guage. We are installing it on the wife's evo. Now she has aftermarket DP, Cat-delete, and Exhaust. Each portion of the exuast has a bung to place an O2 sensor into. Obviously the cat delete is where we are going to place the normal O2 housing. But that leaves the DP and Exhaust with Open holes that I could place a sensor for an EGT guage.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where you could put that sensore.....or would you still tap the exhaust manifold?

Thank you for your help and suggestions.

That is far too far downstream for an EGT reading... at that point you will be 4-500 degrees lower than at the manifold I imagine.

Tap per instructions on the evomoto site my friend!

Definitely way to far downstream. That would be a worthless gauge that far away.

OK I have to bump this because I believe, alicea8541, that you may have used the wrong tap. Having been trying to locate this fitting for the BF EGT gauge all weekend/today, I have concluded that the METRIC gauge uses a PT (BSPT) fitting while the IMPERIAL gauge (not yet released) will use an NPT fitting. This may be why your fitting never fit. If you go find a PT tap and re-tap the hole, I'll bet it fits perfectly and won't strip out. I believe the thread pitch is off just a hair between the two.

Still 1/8th obviously, that is the correct size.

I'll be doing my probe install this weekend so I'll update the thread, currently I'm on my way to Works to pick up a fitting (THANK YOU JAMIE!!!!).

Part confirmed. So the NPT fitting is OPTIONAL. Refer to page 86 of your Defi-Link Series Operations Manual. On page 74 you will see the EGT parts:

It is in fact the PT fitting that comes with the kit. This is a typo on the evomoto site unfortunately.

Go get a PT tap and retap with that you should be good to go.

I suppose that it could be but why would you want to? Welding to cast iron is a tricky process and you would almost certainly have to remove the manifold from the car anyway to be able to weld all the way around a fitting. If you thought drilling and tapping was tough you don't want to weld in a bung in the manifold!

I don't know if there is a difference but I have the Defi D EGT gauge not the BF. So far so good, no leaks and I have been doing some spirited driving lately. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah the manual applies to all gauges, it has all 3 series listed on the front iirc. If it's good to go, then that's cool, can you feel a leak under idle?? Is it really loose or just a tad bit loose?
