help w/ "unbalanced/misaligned" rim

my brother borrowed my car while i was away on vacation. he hit a curb and got my right rear rim scratched a bit...not too bad. when i had my tires rotated i noticed steering wheel vibration. had my tires balanced and they found the same rim w/c was scratched to be " mis aligned or oblong"( not sure about the term) w/c is causing the vibration when it was placed in the front when it was rotated...the guys at the tire shop suggested that i have the rim "aligned" by a specialty tire center. do u guys have any suggestion on my problem? thanks!!

An alignment is totally different from balancing. In order to get rid of the vibration, you may have to have the tires swapped when you rotate to leave that rim on the rear of the vehicle. You should check the cars alignment too, just in case there was damage or it knocked something out (happened to me). If the rim is bent, sometimes balancing it will not effect it. Most often I can get rid of high speed unbalanced vibrations, but there is more of a thump, and its always there, not at the appropriate harmonic speeds. Swap the tire and balance the rims, it'll be perfect.

thanks for the advice and comment....sorry for not too sure about the term...yup, the wheel is bent that's why the only way to have it fixed according to the tire shop is to have the ent on the wheel fixed by a specialty tire shop.....does anyone know one here in chicago area? really am temted to get new shoes but don't have the budget for it....too busy saving money to pay this car off sooner...also am thinking of trading this car in and take advantage of the 0% on a new MR...my dealer just called me to say they have an MR that they will give at invoice...very tempting......much better i guess than the crappy 5.2 % 72 mos deal i got....oh well, back to earth....wld u guys think just get 1 enkei rim from people here trying to sell their orig enkeis?
