Gas Saving Tips

I'm sure we're all starting to feel the strain of gas prices sky rocketing. In the past 4 days here in daytona gas has gone up almost 30 cents across the city. I've seen it as high as $3.00/gallon for 93 and as low as $2.75/gallon for 93. I have a 20 mile round trip drive to/from work and I've been getting around 200-225 miles out of my tank. Filling up for around $30 every week is going to start hurting alot more once gas hits $3.00 everywhere and I'm sure within the next week it will. So what are some of your gas conserving tips for the evo? I don't drive the car very hard, get on it only once in a while and just changed my oil this past weekend. Mods on the car are only hks intake/bov/boost controller set just a little at/above stock settings. Wondering what some of you guys do to conserve fuel.

With my cams and my dyno of 334AWHP I just got on my last tank of gas 26.3MPG. I drove the car very easy, not really getting into boost and it really helped my gas mileage. Even under the Florida Heat I still got decent gas mileage.

Just stay out of boost. I average around 280 miles per tank. I have seen a little over 300 miles on a single tank (almost all highway). Especially off of a stop, just be a little conservative with the fun pedal. When I say conservative, I mean I still accelerate faster than the average grocery getter off the line, but am not trying to set a land speed record every time the light turns green. On the highways I average around 70-90 mph. I do get on it, but not from a stop. I have no spoiler, I heard this helps a good bit too.

Cams kill your gas mileage if you get into boost, with a tune and no boosting it will improve your gas mileage. I think it was Ted B who said he got some 280s and tuned them and got like 38 somthing miles to the gallon?

You've obviously never taken public transportation in this town I'd ride my bicycle to/from work before I took the bus and that's in 100 degree heat!

stay off the accelerator!!! (and get a better tune!)

I've only gone through 1.5 tanks, but remember, if you drive it like a race car, expect to fill it up as often as a race car pits. . . .
