Is my hallman mbc defective ???

today
i went to my friends house in order to install hallman mbc pro rx.
every connection was right we double checked..but when we turned up the boost it stayed at 0.8 bar(about 11 psi). so we turned once more 1/2 turn. result was same...11 psi.
so we turned it all the way down ( counterclockwise) to see what happen. well the boost was still 11 psi when we tested it. so we put another mbc(cheap one) that my friend had to see if hallman was defective. as soon as we put another mbc and tested it, the boost went up to 1.4 bar...
is my hallman mbc defective?

The Hallman is really not sensitive to turning. Turning it a full rotation clockwise is only equivelent to about 1psi change.

When I installed mine I thought the same thing. I ended up having to turn it quite a few rotations before I even started to notice a change. Try 3 or 4 full rotations and see where you are at.

I'm not sure why but mine still did. I even called Hallman and they are the ones that said to just keep turning it until I noticed a change.

i think i found what seems to be the problem...when i turned about 6 full rotations i was able to get 14psi so i dont think this mbc is defective
and i just kept turning till the end and the boost i got was 17 psi...
so i am going to change the lighter spring with the heavy one see if it will work...

you have to use heavy spring! light springs are for honda or low psi boost.

Uh, no, do not spread this misinformation. Hallman didn't make his MBCs designed for hondas. He's been making them for DSMs for years. I have the regular spring and run 21psi daily then 23+ on race gas.

I had to use the hard spring. I thought that was the norm for these MBCs on EVOs.

just installed tonight, same issue, turned many rotations, still hit 11 psi, at first i thought it was the gauge that is not accurate, cuz i got a 20 bucks gauge, but read 11 psi dead on, soooo glad that i found this thread, tomorrow first thing in the morning, i'll turn it some more to see what happened right before i take off to work. this makes me feel alot more comfortable
cuz even at 11 psi, the car is fast enough...so 10 more psi IS A BIG DIFFERENCE, so i was so confused if it was really running 11 or the gauge is wrong, so now i know. thanks alot of the info guys
