After-effects of Mark-Up
I'm glad to be in New England :
Check this reply from a
dealer in Boston:
Yes, those cars will be selling at MSRP. No Mark-Up. Boch doesn't need to do that.
But feel free to shop around, some dealerships are doing 3 grand over MSRP. And they are only gettting five cars into their dealership. But Boch is the biggest dealership in New England, so we feel that we'll be happy if you just buy your car here, and maybe remember us when you talk to your friends about their car search.
And of course we'll take your Lancer in trade.
Anything else?
Thanks for thinking about Boch in your quest for an Evo.
Take care!

Just got back from my dealer who received 5 Evo's today..2 Red, 2 yellow, and 1 Silver...I sat in the Evo and I was in heaven. The dealer was telling me about it from the passenger seat. When he said there was a 4K mark-up I opened the door, got out, and walked out of that place! I don't like this
By the way..he quoted the MSRP to be $30,064...and the INVOICE at $28,987...is that right? He showed me the paper too and it looked legit...

This is the point of my thread ... which I hope these dealers are reading ... YES it is your right to mark-up prices ... but then again it's also going to be our right when we get pissed off to buy our next 5 cars from another dealership. I was very rudely corrected in a previous thread (although it seems that I was right). I held that the car business is like any other business that strives on customer loyalty. These salesmen might go to vegas for their amazing gross margin ratings this year ... but next year when they sell less than the other 5 dealers in the area they might not have a job.
