After-effects of Mark-Up

This question goes out specifically to the people who either bought/buying the car at over msrp or to someone who was deterred from buying because of a specific markup.

Do you find yourself jaded by the dealer about the mark-up? In specific given the choice would you not go back to that dealer next time because of the outrageous mark-up and find someone else?

I will go out of my way to do business with another dealership. I am also the type of person who will drive the car back to the gouging dealer and let them know what they lost--a SALE and a long term customer. I don't understand why some dealerships take such a short term, narrow view of customer service. The only people they are "in sync" with are people who will pay any price to be first on the block with the EVO. Unfortunately, that reward is fleeting, 'cause it can't last for more than a few months (before others make their EVO purchase).

I personally have been debating whether or not to go back to the dealer cuz they are real jerks. reason being is i have bought many vehicles from them and they still wanna price gouge and they still dont know anything about the car. I think that maybe i just outa get the owner of korum to make the dealer sell me the car at MSRP that would really **** of the dealership , but im just tempted i could just tell him i that i wont do business with them anymore

::edit:: thats the whole reason i was going to get the owner to get me the car at msrp because they said i would get a 5k markup cuz they know me and the business i do with them however any joesmoe that comes in gets 10k over for the evo.

personally i'm paying a 1200 markup and i don't think that is that bad considering it's a new car to the US market... But for people paying 5-10K over sticker, i think that is absurd. I would never deal with a dealer over-pricing that much for a car

You may see my details to your answer in this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=15449

But basically, will I not only go out of my way not to do more business there in regards to future cars, service, parts and warranty work, but I will spread the word amongst my friends and people I know to make sure they do not go there and be treated in an unwanted manner.

Probably not... I don't think that outlandish mark up and different dealer games are worth it, I'm just going to wait it out and get the car in a few months if they don't give me the price I want...

Dealers are dicks. They pretend to be your friend but when you call thema nd say Hey there, this is Steve, how are ya?" and they "Steve who?" That **** pisses me off. I mean, I have talked ot this guy 2 days out of the week for the past 2 months and he still doesnt know who I am. I told the guy, no lyin', "I tell you what, when you can remember who I am then I might think about buying a car from you guys". He got pissed off right away saying "we already have a deal, you can't reneg." Yeah right. The kicker, I was going to trade in my Z06 which they were stealing from me, and was going to put 20 G's down. That's $20,000 and this ******* ****** ****er doesn't know who I am. **** HIM ! ! !

I agree with all of you, even RTW Evo, who paid a small markup. The 5-10 k over thing is only making the dealer show their true colors. They should have allowed the fans who support everything , and have had deposits since the days you walk into a dealership and say evolution and get back a blank look from the sales manager, to aquire the cars for MSRP since they had preorderd it. Then after the car becomes way popular charge a market adjustment to those trying to jump on the wagon late. AKA the non hardcore enthusiest. This is only hurting PR across the country when the whole point of this car was suppose to be a flagship car that would boost the companys weak image. What the hell happened .

My 2 cents

Why are you trading in your Z06?????? Sell it! It's a popular car! You can use the extra 5 - 10K for mods or something.

I tried that. The most I can get for it is $39,000. The Chevy place I bought it from has 2 2002 Z06's with 17 and 28 miles and they are going for $43,500. I have 8,000 miles on mine. I think $39,000 may still be pushing it.

I would continue to deal with the dealer I'm using.. Only because I will probably end up not paying over MSRP, at least significantly over.. And the salesman is a legitimate enthusiast and had alot of VALID information regarding the car, its availability, information, and its history... I really don't know what I am going to do if he does tell me its Xxxx over MSRP since I'm on a second-wave wait list at another dealership at MSRP... I'd prefer to buy from them because of their location, reputation, and service department. (though you can go to any dealer for service)

As always... If the customer didn't sign anything, then there's no binding "deal." Sounds as if that particular salesman thought he had you hooked.

Turned out he was hooked. Hooked on crack.
Found another dealer. This one is getting a black one. The other was silver. 2 of my top choices.
