Trading in a car equipped with Test Pipe?

Is it bad to trade in a car with a test pipe? The law that says you have to pay a $10k fine for tampering with it, can they get you if you trade the car in on something else?

Thanks.

I've traded in two modified cars and both times all they check is the mileage. Once youve signed all the paperwork it's their car and their problem with getting it back to oem spec.

I am not really sure they would check to be honest, but im sure you could find someone to trade you a stock cat for a testpipe.

+1 I think that's a good idea, not much effort for the peace of mind.

always keep the original parts. You will most likely recieve a call. Here in Cali it is the seller who is responsible for making sure the car can pass emissions.

I'll just throw the stock cat in the trunk (still have it). There's no emissions in Florida so they may leave it up to the buyer on how they want the car. Thanks for the replies!

If you don't mind, how much are they giving you on trade?

It depends on the dealership......i had to paid some $$$ for my trade in cause when you sign the papers you have to really read it. Because there are some questions asking you if you ever modify or touch the car in some sort of ways. I didnt check those boxes and the dealer had to make me paid some $$$ about 3,000. They even got a lawyer to send me some papers saying that I had to pay that much or they'll take me to court.....

All that I left on there was the exhaust, lowering springs and a cutted vallve cover(Honda). plus my bumper was cut for my FMIC.

if it's a dealership, I don't really care what's aftermarket and what not...it's their problem after you sign the papers, since they give you crappy trade-in value anyways...

If you're dealing with a private party...then it'll be nice to let them know ahead of time....
