Help from the Mechanically inclined

I'm trying to take apart the manifold, o2 housing and turbo. basicaly 8 bolts all together. Man those mothers are tight. Is WD40 sprayed directly on the bolts a good idea, then just keep torquing until they start to unscrew?

Nothing wrong with a spray of wd40 with torqueing it.

i would personally use PB blaster. you can get it at wal-mart. great stuff. let it sit for about an hour or 2 before you start wrenching. they should come right out. hope this helps.

Wd40 is not really the best choice for a penetrating oil. Probably the most common solution would be to buy a can of PB Blaster...Works great, I use it at work. Should be at any "auto parts superstore" place. I would also highly recommend sili-kroil, but you would have to special order your own. I used it when I was working as an aviation mechanic in the Coast Guard. -Gabe

Absolutely use PB instead of WD!!

And remember, fast torquing > slow torquing. In other words, use a quick/sharp motion rather than an extendedly long slow motion when trying to unscrew those things.

What has helped for me is spraying everything down with PB, turning on the car for a few seconds (10-15seconds), respraying, waiting till everything is cool to touch THEN unscrewing. For sure everything will come off like butter.

I've got a spare manifonld, o2 housing and turbo, so its not in the car. I'm going to pick up the PB tomorrow and work it out.
