getting cams, wait for tune?

hey guys just wanted to see if i should leave my safc zeroed out until i get my cams?

im going to be takin it down to a shop to get tuned on a wideband so should i wait to spend the 60$ or get it tuned now because cams doesnt make a difference when it comes to tuning an safc...

Are you re-dynoflashing your car after cams? It seems to me that a tune (involving timing control, not just fuel control) is always needed after cams, but I could be mistaken.

definitely wait till after the cams are in before you get it tuned, even with just an s-afc, my baseline run with cams and the safc zeroed was 286, with tuning it came out to be 325 at the wheels...so WAIT

I don't think I understand the question here. Currently, you have a flash for your current mods and then an unused S-AFC that is installed? Next, you are going to get cams, but you are not going to get reflashed for those mods? Instead, you are going to leave the flash how it is and then use the S-AFC to fine-tune the difference that the cams make? Yes, you 100% ABSOLUTELY need a retune after cams. Typically, if you have a flash, you would get reflashed after adding cams. It's not typical to have a flash and install an S-AFC on top of it that you don't tune yourself. The point of an S-AFC is to do your own tuning all the time dependent on weather conditions (hot vs cold), octane (pump vs race), and driving conditions (street, drag, autox, road course, etc.). If you aren't doing any of this stuff, then you don't need an S-AFC and would be better off with a reflash. If you do plan on doing this stuff, then you should just go out and tune it yourself right now, then go retune it again after the cams. That's the purpose of the S-AFC...

If you are getting cams and want the most out of it, definetely at least flash or something you can adjust your timing.. simply after somepoint, just leaning out the fuel will not help you gain horsepower...

I would get flash and then s-afc to fine tune a/f like warrtalon said.. you can always keep your safc with 0 settings and then adjust it when you add fuel race for example..
