To sunroof or not..
To sunroof or not..
Ok, I know what color, from which dealer and when I want to pick it up. Now, A00 or A61??!!!!
What factors did everyone consider between these two? Here are some of mine:
Pro sunroof:
1) Better resale (I don't care a whole lot about)
2) More fun when cruising
3) Looks
4) Minor luxury in an otherwise extreme car
Con sunroof:
1) Price
2) Weight
3) Reduced rigidity
4) Reduced head space (I'm 6'4")
5) With reduced head space means less room for my head AND helmet
6) Possibly leaking when much older?
7) Something else to replace/repair?!
I've never owned a car with a sunroof, but I do know I want to do some autoX and other types of competition. Eventually in a couple years this will stop being my daily driver and be my weekend car.

I am 6'2" and I would not get a sunroof.
1) Less helmet room
2) They all break or leak eventually.
3) I don't think you can rally with a sunroof. (resale)
4) I have used my current sunroof twice in three years.
5) Cost
6) Weight... It is like strapping 2 bowling ***** to your roof (top heavy).
7) Easier to wax without a sunroof (Ok that was a little weaker)
You yourself came up with more cons subconsciensly.(sp?)

c'mon guys...............how many of you are actually gonna rally these cars ? I mean, okay if that floats your boat, go to it. but personally, I wouldn't want to void my warranty, especially for the sake of racing offroad. however, I plan on going to the autocross with mine(which has a sunroof). my buddy has an Evo VII in England with a sunroof and he autocrosses it quite regularly. he says no weird twisty sounds or anything. and being pretty much a sister car except for a few different body panels, I think you can expect the same from this car. so, if you want a sunroof, go for it, cause it aint gonna make a bit of difference.
for the next point..............the vehicle weight without sunroof is 3263 lbs and 3298 lbs with the sunroof. that's only an additional 35 lbs. as one of you said......about the weight of a couple of bowling *****. I don't know about you, but with almost 300 ponies on tap, I don't think a "few bowling *****" is gonna make any difference at all. maybe in gross acceleration, but my guess is that the difference is gonna be so small, that it's insignificant really. plus, everyone is not equal in weight either, so there's another factor to weigh into the formula too. my car could be exactly the same as your car but we weigh different and I blow you away because ot that factor alone. so, now the sunroof doesn't seem like that much of a big deal all of a sudden. just my thoughts guys.............what do you think ?

Personally, the sunroof is a nice option, but I had the same height problem (6'3"). I was looking at a Civic (yes, a Civic), and couldn't fit in the EX because of headroom, or the lack thereof. So here's my 2 bits.
If you plan on racing your car, or whatever you need to wear a helmet for, don't get it.
If you just plan on enjoying a beautiful sunny day on a windy countryside road, get the sunroof. (God I miss Maryland. Crazy fun roads to drive on through steeplechase countryside.)

It may only be two bowling *****, but what about after the spare, and the jack? Now, its closer to 60-65lbs right? Perhaps more? Getting the car closer to 3200 is much nicer than going to 3300. The 350Z weighs in about 3300lbs...that's beefy for how much space it actually has.
Also, two bowling ***** worth of weight on the top of the car is gonna mean a higher centre of gravity right? Maybe?
And, courtesy of Fireball, I learn that only the non-sunroof cars (like mine) come with a compartment for your shades
which I just think is very cool.

The roof is the worst place for weight .
The reason I mentioned rallying is for resale.
Sure most people won't rally a new one.
I mentioned the weight because most people are beyond hardcore with this car.
