HELP! found the problem on my car!
HELP!! whas wrong with my evo!
Ok i was just driving around yesterday around 50-60 mph...then i noticed a loud noise... its really hard to describe it but it sounds like the whine the evo has that you can hear through 1-2 gears... and then it normally goes away...but it doesnt, it just keeps getting louder and louder and higher pitch the higher the mph i go...around 50-60 mph its sounds like grinding metal when go on and off the gas... when im cruising on the freeway you can hear it sooo loud even though the music is turned up really high....when im slowing down at the stop light it sounds like its winding down... i tried punching it in 2nd gear and it just sounded soooo horrible i left off the gas and was like
my car only hit 22,000 miles yesterday...and i had it serviced just 1000 miles ago... i used syncromesh for the tranny and 75-90 for the transfercase.... my friend here in SD "SNOOP" said for me to take it into Poway Mitsubishi...what do i expect? i know if its tranny work then i wont be able to have my car back for like 3 weeks or longer...will they be able to give me a loaner car if im only 18? help guys...i never abuse this car! idk whats wrong...!

Search the forums for transfer case noises and see if they relate to you...From what you describe it sounds like it, but it could be anything..

Well then your best bet would be to go to the dealership and see if they can diagnose the problem. If you haven't beat on your car and it is stock as you say it is, then it shouldn't be TOO hard of a fight

but my homie told me to go to this one 25 miles away...the car drives fine but idk...it feels like im driving with only my rear wheels

it has to be the transfer case, same noise happened to me four different times with my 03. they "fixed" it everytime - I finally said screw it and got an 05, 7k miles so far and no problems.
