How much can stock evo internals take?

I have a TRE built trans in my 1G, but only because when I got the car the trans was tired and had 2nd gear grind, but hell, she's 14 years old and has 162K miles.
If more manufacturers made AWD cars that could run 12's or better with just handful of bolt ons, maybe we could compare them to others and say "Mitsubishi trans are POS", but we really can't. WRX trans aren't so hot either, I would go so far to say they are worse.

A good driver who knows how to take care of a tranny in a big HP car could probably make it last, but I broke my tranny in my awd 1g with very basic mods. Still had the stock turbo and side mount. One of the gears in the center diff (or maybe it was the front ...been out of this game too long. whichever one always breaks ) into like 6 pieces. This was a stupid kid (me) with an ACT 2600 doing street racing launches on a daily basis.
That is where I made my mistake. I rebuilt my transmission on my own, and actually did a decent job for a 19 year old kid. It lasted a year before I blew big chunks of metal through the case and locked up all four wheels.
I should have sent it to TRE for a proper rebuild and upgrade at my first trouble.
Then I made the second dumb move by buying a brand new tranny from mitsu for about a billion dollars. I should have found a used one and had TRE rebuild it. My plan at the time was to keep the car for a very long time....so I thought a new tranny was a good idea.
I never did get to find out if that was a good idea, because shortly after buying a new tranny....I had a radiator hose start leaking in a downpour and only realized my motor was cooking when my heat quit working.
I got the blown head gasket and warped head repaired and put back together. Two weeks later my timing belt slipped and all hell broke loose. The tensioner and belt were only 10K old...so I did not replace them during the head job.
I was so obsenely pissed off that I sold the stupid car blown up.
That was many moons ago, and I am now older and wiser. I plan to take good care of my EVO's tranny. I think the 5k limiter and restrictor will be staying in place for now.
SO, honestly ....I don't think that mitsu really makes a terrible transmission. They are just not designed to do 7K clutch drops ....so I am going to stay away from the drag strip.
