Lowering the Evo VIII
Don't do it, especially if you're just "lowering" it. The Evo's suspension is well tuned system, especially for the street, and unless you know what you're doing you'll probably downgrade vs. upgrade.

Since I plan on keeping my Evo purely on-road, I plan on lowering it slightly, but will wait until completely sure the system I use is going to benefit handling and not hinder it. Hopefully there will be mutliple tests with different coilover systems tried on the Evo to help the decision. If this all proves unattainable, I'll definitely leave it stock.

have you looked at the front springs on the 8. they put some spacers in there, I am not sure if they did that to raise the front end to pass DOT ride hight,,,,but I get the feeling you can take them out. They use to do that with 911s to pass DOT.
whatever ride height you decide to change to, make sure you recalibrate the alignment properly (it may take some time before we know what that's going to be..). Changing the ride height will greatly affect the alignment
you guys are funny...... good information, but telling him to get the car aligned afterwards...duh.... (sort of like the 6000 posts telling people not to over rev their car during the breakin periods...urgh)
well...the car will look better if it is lowered alittle.... obviously coilovers beat just springs....
If the right coilover kit comes out I will get a set for my car (if the f'ing thing ever shows up).

if you want to lower your Evo, there's two avenues you can take. the first is to wait for RALLIART to come to the US(which will be soon), or you can check the TEIN website. they have a tried and tested kit fir the Evo. I'm told it's one of the best lowering kits for the Evo, out there.
Has anyone who has gotten their cars already delivered looked to see if those spacers are there? I saw a photo of the spacers and they look like their used to raise the ride height.. Also, if they are there, anyone got the ***** to take them out and see what they do?? hehe..

Tell me about these spacers in the front springs of the Evo. This is the first I've heard of this.
Thanks,
