Problem with Lowered EVOs - Headlight visibility
Something Ive noticed but really never seemed to do anything about was right after I dropped my car, is that the headlights are pointed way down to the ground, even with the electronic adjustment all the way up.
Im sure many other guys with lowered suspension have this problem? Is there a solution ... like manually turning up the HID headlights from the engine bay even further? I dunno...
Im sure most know that the EVO is much higher in the front than back wheel gap wise so 99% of lowering springs are going to do 1.5in front and 1" back or something close that. My hotchkis springs are that I believe. Anyway, I have my HIDs adjusted all the way up and its still dangerously bad lighting.. the light is only showing on the road 50-60 feet in front of me at most. Anyone have a solution?
I know for a FACT this has already cost me serious money. Back in May I was driving home on the parkway and I ran over a dead deer, which ****ed up some stuff on my car (lip, IC, undertray). I didnt see the damn thing til I was just about on top of it... anyway... Id rreally like to do something about it.... other than putting stock springs back in lol which I will NOT DO!

Be VERY careful turning those gears, especially the 03-04 people. They strip very very very very easily. I did it very slow at first just to kind of break them loose, then turned it nice and easy, never forcing it.
so, on my IS, there was this sensor on the back axle somewhere that sensed the level of the car and adjusted the headlights accordingly. Is there anything like this on the evo? I know of several people who had headlight aiming problems after they dropped their car and this level had to be adjusted...
If you adjust 'em with the car on, they will return to level. So what u do is turn 'em on, mark 'em at the factory 0, then shut the car off. Crank on it for a while, turn it back on and see where they are. I repeated that over and over until I had 'em where I needed 'em.
I'm finally getting around to this... I'm thinking I'll park next to a stock height Evo facing a wall and adjust to his height. VA's crazy about headlight height on the safety inspection... Actually, my headlights weren't perfectly even from stock, the passenger's always been a touch higher. That may be normal, though.
Yeah it's normal for the right side to be a tad higher, it's so you don't blind oncoming people. If you can't find a stock evo to work with, just to the how-to as is, and then you can use setting 1 or 0 to be at stock height again.
