Just got back from Vishnu...red evo was sitting out front so I scoped it out for a little...nice...the stock exhaust is HUGE!!! They got those 30 extra hp out of it and it's still bone stock...Still not saying anything on HP numbers, but it was sweet to check out...also found a nice wheel at modacar...Is there a hub out there anywhere????

What did they do to get 30 more HP? Boost controller?

That's exactly what I was thinking... I was very psyched to see Shiv post here. After reading his work over at i-club/nasioc for the last couple of years and seeing his articles in SCC, I've developed a lot of respect for what he/Vishnu can do!

The best part is that this is a U.S. based tuning operation working on USDM Lancer Evos, so you can expect tuning catered directly for our market. This is probably most critical in the ECU tuning department, since our ECU will be different from other markets' ECU specs.

Shiv said boost levels remained completely stock, so probably not. I'm guessing ignition or fuel map adjustment somehow.

My first guess is that they cleanes up the fuel map. These cars (WRX's) came here notoriously rich, in order to compensate for our $hitty fuel. I am sure that the Evolution is no different.

It is amazing what pulling a little fuel will do for power. I am sure that he probably is holding the boost to redline as well. Possibly cleaning up the timing map too.

hey

actually, the dyno cost much more than that. it is indeed an expensive dyno.

i am impressed, but not surprised that shiv got an extra 30 hp out of the EVO already. i am curious how dynoing other cars goes. you might as well get used to shiv and his teasing. it is only due to his analness (is that a word?), and he is VERY ****.

hopefully we will have a bunch of #'s soon to look at.

Why do people keep saying the STi is going to stomp the Evo badly? It's rated at 29hp more to the CRANK. And that's still untested #'s. There's no dyno #'s to compare and as we all know some cars lose less or more power to the wheels. Sure the car is probably going to have a little more power but I hardly think it will be enough to stomp the Evo. A tenth or two maybe. As for handling the Evo kicks a$$ even without the ACD so I'm betting it's driver skill at that point between the two. If you're going to say the STi will be better then tell it truthfully and unbiased. It will edge out the Evo in the straights and possibly the twisties as well. No way in hell it flat out stomps it like a Supra to an Integra.

I have a feeling that it is going to walk away. The STI has a front and rear Sure-Trac diffs, and a voltage baised center diff. This setup walked away from a JDM evo VII with less HP than the STi.

It will not be a tossup, truthfully, and unbiased. Now, bring over the EVO electronics, and a front LSD, and then we will talk some more, until then, We will have to just wait for the tests, to confirm my suspicions.

stop the comparison madness!!! this is the "well...we dynoed it " thread, not "another evo vs. sti" thread. wait for the freaking results and talk about it then.

Ya know.. From the photos I've seen of the engine and intake, I can see a few areas where I would be able to gain a few horses.. mainly in the air box, ducting, high flow air filter.. a few other things..

I believe Shivs EVO dynoed around 220ish. Which is a tad low.

but if he got 30hp out of the engine through ecu tweaking then who cares. I sure don't.

Dunno about that.. maybe 220 with the tuning. If you use his hp calculator and plug in 271 flywheel hp you get 193whp on his dyno dynamics and he said it was lower than the claimed flywheel hp. So it would have to be lower than 193 baseline. Anyway where did you come up with the 220hp figure, he hasnt even released the results yet...

I have spies everywhere.

I got a number from the spy and extrapolated the base run hp based on the information given out by Shiv.

any how we'll see if my guesstimation is close or not.

Hello Guys,
We have dynoed 3 Evos so far and they are all making within 3 horsepower of each other. We are dynoing another one on Tuesday and will release the results shortly thereafter. The car is a fantastic driving machine and is in a different league then the WRX dynamically for sure. Take care guys.
