i bet they installed your blow off valve backwards or your vacuum line is bent up, thats what they did to mine, dey did both for me. heres my story from my local thread:

Instead of the WHOOOSH it was CHUGA CHUGA. I thought maybe I shifted or did something wrong and so I pulled really hard and it just made the wierd noise louder. My friend is a mechanic so asked him to look at it. We found out that the mechanics took off the vacuum line and put it back but with 90 degree turns to fit around the blow off valve. Why woudl the blow off valve take up space for the vacuum line? Because we found out the blow off valve was put on backwards. It seems like they forced it in the blow off valve backwards and then put the vacuum line in but wouldnt fit so they made crazy 90 degree angle turns to make it fit (which caused the fluttering kind of sound). I'm never trusting those mechanics again. How could you work at Mitsubishi Service and not know how to put back the blow off valve on? I was very pissed off about this and now i'm reading about some jackass on evom who said he put his blow off valve on backwards for the sound and it ruined his internals and caused his turbo to surge. Now i'm really worried about my engine.

Took my car in the other day and any time a car comes in they look up the history and any recalls to see if it needs to be done on the car but that is here in Orlando. recall on my 05 has been done.
yeah i coudlnt hear it before but after it i coudl def. hear it. they have to take of the bov to get to the hose so the mechanic prolly made the dumbass mistake mine did.
if theres another person with an evo in your area , check to see if the bov is mounted the same way or just go bring it back and compare it with the evos at the dealer and after you show what dumbasses they are, complain till you get free oil changes for life.

looks like your vacuum line is squished. and if the bov is installed correctly, it shouln't be bent like that at all. i'm 90% sure its installed wrong. like i said try to go compare it with another evo in person, i cant tell from the pictures right now. hope u get it figured out. and just in case, dont push it hard.
I mean even by just looking at the pics and the pic in the service manual...HELLO obviously installed wrong.
With the bov installed backasswards is there any concern for possible damage to any of the systems? Thats just it, I haven't been driving it hard hard, but past 5k mainly to see if I was going crazy from hearing that sound.

i did the same exact thing, i went above 5k couple times cuz i thought i was going nuts. but get it swtiched out at the dealer as soon as possible. and complain. if u leave this longterm it should **** up your internals so get it done quick. also seem very upset and talk to the service manager, im pretty sure they'll whip up some free oil changes and services. its a good thing you caught it early like i did. this causes major surging and ltos of damage if kept on long.
I will be going first thing Monday morning to talk to the service manager and raise hell on earth. The car is going to sit till Monday morning. I understand that mistakes can happen, but still.
I totally thought I was going nuts, I was like hmm this sound is new, but doesn't sound right. That is just it too, like you I am aware enough and know enough to be able to determine an issue. I am sure that there are many others that would have never noticed which could have caused severe long term damage.

first, i had to educate the service manager about this recall. i had to call 3 different dealers to verify this and let my service manager know.
just to let you know that i am the guy who cleans engine room everytime i wash my car.
car wash: three times in two weeks.
wax everytime i wash.
after the recall service was performed, the followings were my symtoms.
the coolant was boiling in the turbo
there wasn't any coolant in the tank
the intercooler hose poped out, my car almost stalled while i was driving.
the coolant was everywhere in engine room.
after revisit the dealer, they refilled the coolant
a day later, coolant was empty.
i refilled the coolant.
a day later, coolant was empty again.
the coolant still boils in the turbo. somehow it smells like coffe????
a day later, i sold my evo.
i am still waiting for customer satisfaction call from Mitsu... they better get ready...
