LOL man that's funny... But I think that we should remain objective here. It's "your" money and I'm sure that you're an adult that can make a rightful decision. Use the money and fix up your Evo and live in the moment. Let's get back on the topic and fix up his car.

The stroker comment is bs on the motor not lasting as long or at least from what I have heard, the revving is true though but not a huge huge difference. Most people who build the head and bottom end rev to 9-9500, people with strokers rev to 8-8500. Buschur had one person rev to 9 I believe with their stroker but I don't recommend that, but the 500 less is not a bad deal for the huge increase in spool time and torque. 15,000 is all you will need to get what you want for a goal in hp.

Basic bolts on's and such:

Head - $1800
Cams - $550
Turboback - 550ish (since you only need the Cat-delete and catback
Bottomend - $3000 give or take
Twin plate clutch - $1400
UTEC flash or EMS - $500-$2000
Injectors Pump and Fuel rail - $650
Intercooler - $700
Piping - $300
Gauges - Depends on brand but a simple boost gauge and AF is all you need so $50 and $350

35r Turbo kit -3500-4500

Think I might be missing a couple things but not positive.

Thats about 15,000 going with the 2000 with the EMS and tossing in an Intake manifold and TB with the remaining money.

Man... that would make a nice down payment on a starter home, with which you could earn some equity, have a place to live when you get married, and THEN mod to your heart's content Sorry, I'm old now

15k, you dont need that much.. call ams, or slickmotorsports.. a stroker is going to last longer than a stock engine, and be able to take more abuse..

We just had a customer spend 15k on his build-up. He still has the stock bottom end, stock head and stock Throttle body. So hopefully this shop will be doing the work for really cheap or you might run out of money.

Call up Buschur or AMS; tell them how much you have to spend; drop your car off; pick your car up.

Hint: some of these shops charge WAY to much for the work the provide.

Personally, I don't "get" the rationale behind dropping that much money on just the engine. After all, the Evo has much bigger shortcomings (inadequate brake cooling, excessive body roll, poorly-matched springs and dampers, etc.). If you have $15K to spend on an Evo and you want to make it a supercar, consider a more balanced approach to performance.

[For the record, I think blowing your student loan money on car mods is retarded.]

NEVER NEVER NEVER tell a shop how much you have to spend! They'll take you for everything you have! Always act like your broke. Sorta like car dealerships. Don't be afraid to walk out. If they need/want your business, price is ALWAYS negotiable.

As for spending your education money on this car... Man o man it'll be a freakin sweet car! But 5 years down the road,... evo what? 4g huh? Get a degree and get a job that will pay you more than you'll ever be able to spend on what ever happens to be the latest and greatest at the time. Maybe skyline? A buddy of mine got a loan check for 7500 our first year of school. He spent it on a sweet civic hatch (summer of 98) and blew off the rules of the loan. Because he breeched contract, the loan went up to 31.5% finance rate and now his credit score is less than 600 6 years later. He's still paying on the loan.

I wouldn't spend $15,000 of borrowed money to build a car. Big mistake. Spend $3000 travelling and whoring in southeast Asia for a month or two. Much better value for your money. When you're 60 and you look back at your life, the memories you have of the places you went, the people you met and the experience gained will be far more enjoyable then those of some "b1tchin' car" you built and owned for 2 or 3 years.

$15,000 is how much i pay a year for college, i have a full ride to University of COnnecticut, im a prelaw major, so my parents helped me take out a 15k loan that i would have had to take out to use on my car, im not using my money for a car instead of tuition, its just im able to take it now because of my full ride scholarship. 2% at payback over a course of 20yrs....not that bad about 100 or so a month IF i make minimum payments. but thank you for your concerns!

You're crazy. What a waste of money this is... If you got 15k in cash right now, I would go for it. But a loan? Come on... I bet ya once you've done all this, you'll part out and put the parts on the "for sale" threads...

When he defaults on the student loans (lots of debt with no degree to show for it = likely to default) that were used for fraudulent purposes (getting student loans for car modifications is fraud) and we as the tax payers pay his debts it becomes our business.

Keith

PS: Leave it to someone who is pre-Law to defraud the government on Student loans. We have a future politician here guys!
