The only non power mod was an ACT clutch, AEM wideband, boost gauge. He already had a 3" catback.

Ok, then, let's start over. Congratulations on doing so well in HS that you received a full ride. That's awesome and you are to be commended. I also think it's great that your parents realize this and decided to reward you with a large amount of cash.

Now, I don't think they should just hand you that much cash for you to blow on a car, especially being a teenager who is just about to head to college. Since I don't have the opportunity to suggest they put it in some sort of interest-bearing account, I'll have to try and convince you.

What I would suggest is to only spend about $3k on the car to get the following:

- MBC w/gauge
- Cams (your choice of 264/272/280) w/cam gears
- LICP
- Panel Filter
- Custom flash
- Alky injection (if you are responsible enough to keep the tank filled)

With all of this, you will have a street monster that is still reliable with around 360whp (way more than I have on my 12.1s Evo).

Take the rest of the money and learn how to invest it safely. I'm not saying to throw all of it into stocks or mutual funds, but find at least a money market fund where you can get some interest (~4%) yet still have the money liquid, meaning you can get to it if you need to. This would allow you to have plenty of money set aside for things you want or for maintenance (like a new clutch+installation).

Just my advice...

Do you have any racing experience? Any experience with powerful cars? My guess is no. I'll be man enough and honest to say i don't think i'd be able to handle a 600+ whp car. The most powerful car I've driven was a 400 rwhp 2,000 lb miata and lets just say if it was my car i'd be dead right now.

I'm sure you'll be happy with a 350-370 whp car so if anything spend around 4k and save the rest.
