Car Alarm, 2 way
Car Alarm, 2 way
I would like to purchase a car alarm for my Evo. I just dont really know which one to buy. I have heard both good and bad things about Viper and i think its called Black widow. What i want is a alarm with a 2 way pager that alerts you if somthing is up. Also a system that has sensors that set the alarm off if there is any comotion.I do not want remote start or any of that. So do any of you know about any decent 2-way alarms that are not to costly? thanks
Viper 5000. It comes with both a 2 way lcd pager and a regular remote. I think it has 5 aux inputs and there's plenty of add-on's you can get like remote trunk release, auto window up/down, window sensors, proxy sensor, hood sensor, etc. Check out Viper's Website. Pretty informative.
I have the viper and it saved me a shyt load of money! Saved me from getting my rims stolen, and System jacked. Plus it lets u know when a rice parks next to u or GRANDMA hits ur car with her TAHOE door.
bro believe me on this, I had the black widow top of the line 2 way pager that they have. Its a good alarm but the two way pager remote is way to cheaply made. I drop it once the sound got f uck up after that numerious drops nothin shows on the screen anymore. I have a viper 2 way pager alarm, which imop is much better. I drop the remote so many times now, nothing have gone wrong. Plus the blue in dash blue led will match your evo exterior better than red leds. I think i have the viper 679X model, it retails 360$ but i bought it wholesale price for 160$.......
I have the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 and love it. One thing that make it stand out from other alarms is the turbo timer feature. It's not just a turbo timer input (so you'd still need the turbo timer), it's the whole function where you set the desire time (1, 3, 5... minutes) and the car shuts down while the alarm is already armed (during this time the shock sensor is disabled). There is also a remote start and a 2-way LCD remote control, the problem is that the range is not that great, I tested it in a parking lot and I think it worked up to ~300 feet from the car.

find yourself a certified installer and ask them to do it on the side. Audioexpress still sells close to retail. I bought my alarm wholesale price online and had my friend who is certified install it for 40 bucks...I would suggest just buyin it somewhere online it would save you some money.....
I paid $400 for my Clifford Matrix RSX3.5 installed, the price includes the transponder (sp?) needed for the remote start feature. It was installed by a certified Clifford dealer, lifetime warranty (installation). Another nice thing about Clifford is that they pay your deductible in case your car is broken in or stolen, up to ~$2500.
I found the same alarm on the Internet for $200 + $30 for the transponder, but after taking a look at the installation there was no doubt I wouldn't been able to do it myself. It took 3 hours of labor to a experienced alarm installer to finish the job, well paid the extra money considering I got lifetime warranty on labor. Any adjustment needed I go to the shop and they do it for free.
