Am I the only one that wonders what the hell your parents are doing telling you what car you can or cannot have? Who wears the pants in your life, you or them?

Tell 'em to **** off and leave you to make the decision.

I can't belive I actually read this whole thread. If my parents were buying me a car and I had 30k to spend, I would be happy to just have parents who were buying me a car. I would just talk it over with them and see what they recommend that you do since they are fronting the cash.

But the dude's already got an Evo - what, his parents have a say in a downgrade?

Let me get this straight, because the car is causing you a few problems, they're going to drop 30K or whatever the changeover is to buy you something else? Which you've already said, you're gonna modify all over again, potentially causing you more problems? So, have they got another 30K when the 350Z or whatever spits out it's turbo kit?

Dude, tell your parents you're happy with the car, you'd just like it fixed, and then you'll drive more sensibly and not cause the car to **** itself anymore. Save them the changeover cost. Learn to live on your own dime. There's a good boy.

Do your parents object to Subaru's policies and practices? Why not get an STi?

Unless you can get off the "teet", you have no choice about the flavor of the milk

Dude! You didn't tell me your parents were pressuring you to sell the car! Oh well, stuff happens, and Mitsu*****y is a PITA to deal with, so I see where they're coming from. I got an idea: Buy a brand new Scion tC (my dad can hook you up since he works at Toyota) and then get the Scionspeed turbo kit and supporting mods. Won't even cost anywhere near a new EVO, and you'll be running low 13's. high 12's. I want to go this route since the EVO is pretty expensive to make it faster. Let me know what you think!
