For a little backround. my evo is sitting in my garage in Chicago, and i am out in Wyoming for contract work. I should be out west for at least a year or more from what my work tells me.

My work has been and will continue to pay for a rental car while I am out here, but after driving an automatic chevy cobalt for the past month, i am about to go insane.

So i was thinking of sending my ecu to Al, have him reflash it for 91 **** and tune it for elevation (6200ft), and then having my car shipped out here. The whole shipping thing scares me, but i really dont want to drive, dont want the extra mileage, its BORING, and the evo isnt the most comfortable 1400 mile trip.

My other option would be to leave it in storage for the time being, but if i do that, i might as well just sell the car, and buy something new when i get back to chicago.

I just cannot see that car sitting in storage not being driven, i have told myself that i will never have a performance car that doesnt get driven.

So what do you guys think?

Sorry about the novel
I would get it shipped, because if you leave it sitting in storage for over a year, all of the seals will be dryrotted if the car isn't run. This can cost a ton in itself to replace dryrotted seals.

No, the Evo won't be the most comfortable car on a 1400 mile trim, but if you do decide to drive, just break the trip up. Stop along the way at places for a little rest. Make a "vacation" out of it.

might as well sell it now and get a new car once your contract work is done

What about liability? Your EVO would be mostly serving company duties, correct? If you have your EVO out there and something happens to it, will the company pay for it? That Cobalt serves, essentially, as insurance for your company. If something happens they wont hessitate to replace it with another cheap rental.

In this particular case, I'd have to reccomend you sell your car. Save the money, then once home use it on a IX or maybe even a X by then. Just gotta have some patience (the Cobalt isnt the worst car they could have given you, either).

Get it shipped, there is almost always a loss involved when you sell and buy a car. That's how dealers make money.

BTW, your damn White Sox ruined the Indians playoff hopes. Oh well, The Indians pretty much sucked anyways

Wyoming winters are horrible, they use rocks for traction when it snows. It's HELL on your car. Just keep this in mind, if you care about your car

well thanks for the thoughts guys.

After a night to think about it, i think i am going to put it up for sale.

I think it is just a smarter thing to do financially. I owe far less then i could get for it, and i havent went crazy with mods yet

I know you lose $$$ when you trade it in for a new car, but i will not be purchasing another one for at least a year or so.

After talking to people out here, they said the winter will beat the sh*t outta my paint, and since i own a mitsu, well lol
