I want evoM's opinion

I really do not know what to do with my car now.
For a little backround. my evo is sitting in my garage in Chicago, and i am out in Wyoming for contract work. I should be out west for at least a year or more from what my work tells me.

My work has been and will continue to pay for a rental car while I am out here, but after driving an automatic chevy cobalt for the past month, i am about to go insane.

So i was thinking of sending my ecu to Al, have him reflash it for 91 **** and tune it for elevation (6200ft), and then having my car shipped out here. The whole shipping thing scares me, but i really dont want to drive, dont want the extra mileage, its BORING, and the evo isnt the most comfortable 1400 mile trip.

My other option would be to leave it in storage for the time being, but if i do that, i might as well just sell the car, and buy something new when i get back to chicago.

I just cannot see that car sitting in storage not being driven, i have told myself that i will never have a performance car that doesnt get driven.

So what do you guys think?

Sorry about the novel

I feel your pain. I would ship it and drive it, can't see myself not driving and enjoying my car for that long.

Use the rental. Patience grasshopper. Plus, winter is coming! Do you really want to beat your car up in a Wyoming winter? Let the Cobalt get pounded by salt, sand, acid, etc..... You should have a good idea of what winter can do to a car being fom Chi- town and all.

BTW, your damn White Sox ruined the Indians playoff hopes. Oh well, The Indians pretty much sucked anyways

Call a shipping company. You could probably get it shipped to you for 500+ or so. I had my Grandparents car shipped from STL to Atlanta for $600.

But then you gotta find a trust worthy company to ship your $30,000 car. I would keep the evo. Wyoming has a lot of fun back roads from what I remember.

yea i see sooo many of them.

I was looking at shipping companies, and the one ebay recommends will insure it for $50,000. They said it will take around 2 weeks to arrive

As for the winter beating it up, they do not use salt, instead they use sand, so i really have no idea what that will do to the car, expect for get it really dirty. My car is pretty beat up anyways because of almost 2 years of daily driving

I dont know, i am kinda leaning toward getting it shipped out here
I cant see me selling it, i like it tooo much, and i also can't see paying insurance on a car that does not move

Don't store it for over a year. You should just sell it, if that is your plan. You'll be throwing money away. Whenever your back in Chicago, you can buy a new EVO. You know the new one will be better anyway. I tried to convince my buddy going to Iraq for 2 years that he should sell his car and not just store it for 2 years, but he won't listen!

Have a close friend from Chicago drive it to you. You can pay for the gas etc, and when he/she arrives you can spend a bit of time with them. Pay for the flight back to IL. Will cost you the same as shipping it, but you will know it is safe in a mates hands.

I don't think I could stand driving a rented cobalt for that long! Talk to your compant to see if they will pay for the mileage out there and back so they don't have to pay for the rental car. Then find a friend that you can trust (who isn't lucky enough to have an EVO) and convince him/her to drive it out to you.

ask your company to ship your Evo to you. it's gotta be less expensive to ship your vehicle to you than to pay for a rental car for a whole year. either way I say ship it and drive it, the Evo that is.
