Are these the ratings at the rear wheels? Seems unlikely to get that kind of HP and Torque to the rear wheels when the flywheel HP and Torque are 271 and 273, respectively. You usually lose about 12-15% due to drivetrain loss on a stick shift.

Unless you got a ringer

Well if these #'s are true, even though it was done fwd for the dyno, the Evo would be putting out more than 271hp using about 12% loss instead of 24% or so for awd. It would be more like 290flywheel hp.

Just a dumb question.. Even though I'm fairly certain I already know the answer.. If you Dyno an AWD Car on a two wheel dyno, what about the other two drive wheels? Disconnect the driveshaft? Its viscous coupled, you can't just 'switch off' the other diff.. hehe..

Yes. That's precisely what they did there. That Evolution was dynoed FWD. It's the next best thing.

The top graph is stock.

The second graph is after "tweaking" - undisclosed modifications / changes.

undisclosed mods except that they said they hadn't even put on timers, new ECU swap or anything yet. The mods are just pure stock tweaking mods no new parts. Which is so massively encouraging at least to me

It just proves one thing... it doesn't mean an Evo is LESS than what Mitsubishi said, but it doesn't necessarily mean more. It just means dependant on what equipment you're using, what gas, how it was broken in, etc. All those nay-sayers in the other thread seem to be absent from this one.

maybe they've given up ranting?

The problem is they only looked at the numbers and then nay-sayed...... what REALLY matters is the improvement between the two graphs. If 30 whp are attainable with pure tweaking and no parts, imagine the power gains from the most basic of modifications. This car just rocks. I'm still pissed that didn't trash the uber tunable (as you can all see) 4g63 and go for a upped displacement one ... HAHAHAHA ... had to get that one out for all the people that constantly *****ed about the Sti going with a 2.4 over mitsu's 2.0 ... guess it really didn't matter after all And I think some of us have been saying that all along

Why does the second dyno chart start at 4480rpm? Why couldn't they keep the horizontal scale the same as the first chart, so it's easier to compare?
That hump at the beginning is strange. Can we trust that peak torque number?
It would be nice to know what tweaking they did to get more power. They say the car was stock and they didn't add parts. Did they REMOVE parts, like the air filter/intake box, cat, muffler?
Did they adjust timing?

Good point. Why aren't these shops telling us what they are doing to make more hp? Do they want to sell us a packaged deal of "free" mods?

I think they are trying to protect their secrets. They make money tuning peoples cars.

But likely we all will know what free tweaks will make hp soon.

I assume at least a few of the "free mods" from 1 & 2G Eclipse's / Talons
will carry over, no ?

30 whp sounds like a lot ... but what the hell do I know
