Aside from my sarcasm, an mbc(incl. boost gauge), tbe, and flash. And maybe a drop-in filter. After this, go to cams, fuel pump, and piping. Also, depending on your taste, a new headunit and speakers may be a top priority as well.

i personally think there would be no use to a messageboard if people couldnt ask questions....some people act like messageboards are databases were people can only look and not ask....kinda sad

You're going all the way to the extreme with this one. Try to stay in the middle-space where reality exists. Asking questions is fine; what's not fine is asking a question that has been answered a zillion times without bothering to even search for the answer first.

Personally after reading all the flames newbs get for not searching made me want to search. I agree though questions should be answerd without being flamed left and right. But whatever, I know I search thats just me though.

Is running a MBC a good idea without a boost gauge?

Again, disagree on intake being in the top 4. Would you prefer 5-8whp from a $400 Injen intake or 30-40whp from a set of $550 cams. Even if you just do an HKS RS for $250, that's far less useful than a set of cams.

Warrtalon/sureshot!

Just wanted to make sure the answer was as painfully obvious as it seemed. Some people earlier mentioned MBC as a mod with no mention of the boost gauge.

It's a given. The gauge is not a mod as much as it is a monitoring device. I was only listing power mods.

If your interest is a quiet car, then I would buck convention and go with (in order):

- fuel pump (walbro 255)
- 3" downpipe and High flow cat into stock catback exhaust
- cam gears and camshafts (HKS 272s set to -4/-1)
- reflash (personally I would get Vishnu's Xflash ... no need for MBC, since Xflash controls boost)

Ideally you'd want to do all of the above mods at the same time to save to cost. The net result should then be an Evo that is as quiet as stock, but makes significantly more power.

If you want to go an extra mile, then you could also get a cutout from the downpipe into a side-exhaust, controlled with an electronic dump valve (a'la smokedmustang's setup). That way you're quiet most of the time, and if you need the extra power, you open up the side exhaust... braaaaaap!!!

Lastly, IMO the only reason to go with an aftermarket BOV (recirculating, NOT VTA) is if your stock BOV is not holding boost. Also, there is no compelling reason to go with an aftermarket intake on the stock turbo. Get a K&N drop in filter and call it a day.

I have never drag raced. Besides I need to make my mod list as long as possible before I even make an attempt.
