The only way a car should be broken in! Not to worry though, I made sure I thoroughly broke it in for Switzer on my drive from the dealership to his shop!

Those numbers seem kinda high for a stock Evo, even 260awhp that also dynoed was kind of high. Thats a big increase of 15whp. The Hks dyno numbers seemed more reasonable

it is the highest number i have seen on a stock evo. however, when i test drove it, it seemed very strong and i guessed that it would put down AT LEAST 260 - 270 awhp.
i guess we will have to see what other EVO 9's are putting down to see if this is the norm.

its funny how people think its the dyno (awd dynojets are the standard to go by in my opinion ) me and BIG3_ETR (David) both figured it was stronger and would do 260-270awhp and we were right!

1.) Has an EVO IX been on a dyno yet? Comparing numbers to a previous model is a little short sighted at this stage in the game.

2.) Even with that said, ITS JUST A BASELINE NUMBER! All anyone should care about is the measurement of gains from adding parts. Maybe the same car puts down 273hp on a different dynojet. Maybe it only puts down 259.6 on a 3rd dynojet. Maybe it only puts down 233.4 on a mustang dyno. Who cares? Its just a number to get started with following progress on the same machine.

I believe that is what the intent of the thread is. Not to say "Our dyno spits out the biggest number!! "

that's exactly right! actually, it makes tym's job more difficult. if the car puts down 295 awhp after the flash, it still only made 20 awhp more.

1) Mike, yes, not only has one been dyno'd, but the comparison between an VIII and a IX on the same dyno at the same time was posted in this thread already. The test was done by HKS, and the peak numbers were very close. In fact, the 05 had higher peak torque.

2)Yes, we know it's a baseline number, but rarely do Dynojet readings vary far off from one another. Although the intent of the thread was not to boast about how high the number was, the rest of us were interested in seeing the number, BECAUSE we are interested in how high IXs are going to dyno in stock form. It just doesn't seem that this dyno puts out normal numbers, since they their only stock 05 dyno 260, which is 15whp higher than just about anywhere else. Time will tell if this 270/265 is normal or not, but at this point it doesn't seem to be.

Thanks Mike for the help with trying to make people understand we are not a shop that brags about numbers. Just giving the facts. When the car makes more power with each part it will be the same amount of power no matter who's dyno, what temperature, or what color the car is with each modification. Either way the new IX is sweet looking and Mitsu did a nice job making it that much better than the VIII to make people want wait to get one.

Dynos The strip is a great way to measure power, sometimes I think it's even better. With a flash, this car should make approx. 290WHP or more, so trap speeds of 107-108mph should be expected to back up the dyno numbers. That would be awesome if EVO IXs are putting down dyno numbers of 260-270WHP on dynojets, if they are, they should be running 12s out of the box. Only time will tell.
