Ya well I didn't expect to hear any good comments on this thread so I'm definitely not hurt by what is said I KNOW I'M AN IDIOT. It is really easy to leave something under the hood though, and I folded the towl over to make it thick so it wouldnt get soaked and get the manifold wet. I do it everytime i wash the car, my car doesn't have the water catch pan under the hood vent, i took it out for a while... I am very lucky it wasn't worse, it got EXTREMEMLY close to the injectors and fuel rail.... and to tell the truth I'm not suprised that this has happened before and was worse, It's EXTREMELY easy to forget something like that if you're in a hurry, which of course I was, and had I not had water handy to put out the flames I'm sure damage would have been much worse. I'm not gonna go the insurance route because I don't wanna just raise my rates when all I need is to replace some harnesses and wires, that'd be stupid.

W T F????

Why? Why? Why?

Do you use blinders when you drive so that you stay focussed on the front?

Hey, its no biggie. I call that the OVERTHINKINg SYNDROME. we all do it from time to time then kick ourselves. This makes a good camping story. Just be glad it didnt cause serious damage.

Now no one can question my putting shoes on the tires when i'm driving in mud.

$**t happens. You really don't need to protect your manifold from water. My vent cover is off and I leave it off. I wash my car weekly and don't hold back with the water when spraying the hood. Water won't hurt anything in there. Heck after I wash the car I usually lift the hood and spray under there to get any excess soap off.

Hope you don't do that again and keep towels away from you manifold even when washing, it's a waste of time doing that.

Dude post what the dealership said when you told them what happened. I've left a cresent wrench or two under the hood in the past, actually a roll of electric tape too but never got burned like that. Obsession kills man.
