Angry So basically, IM AN IDIOT

Ok guys, i fuc*ed up today. Decided to wash my car, nice day, no work, so I did what I normally do and put a towel under the vent in the hood to keep the water from getting on the exhaust manifold and head, washed the car, great, FORGOT TO TAKE THE TOWEL OUT! Was running around and all the sudden i see smoke coming from the hood, followed a couple seconds later by flames... popped the hood, luckily i had a water bottle doused the flames out, ripped the towel off, multiple various wires were burnt but not to the point of breaking, one injector harness was partially melted, the spark plug cover is DONE as is part of the cam gear cover. the car still ran afterwards but obvously with a cel and felt as if it was in limp mode, I got it to MITSU, luckily they weren't far and now I'm without my baby and I'm kicking myself for being such a complete idiot. I have an safc in the mail on the way. I told the service manager not to worry about the spark plug and cam cover and stuff, as I'll just get some kinda aftermarket one and if the injector that burnt needs replaced I'm probably just gonna get some aftermarket ones in there. Can I run larger injectors without prior tuning just to drive my car home real quick so i can install the safc and tune for it? Thanks guys I'm really bummed out right now and my grammar has sucked in this message because I'm furious and typing reallyyyyy fast. Thanks guys and hope this isn't gonna set me back too much cash!

That's too bad. None of that was necessary, since water gets in when it rains anyway. Washing the car is no worse than driving in a rainstorm.

Glad to hear you are still okay and the car did not suffer to much. I bet you won't do this again.

ok let me picture this...a towel is gonna keep your mani completely dry? wouldn't it just soak up the water and get the manifold wet anyways? and its soaked and more water keeps coming on it, its just gonna be the same as if the towel wasnt there

I sometimes leave the tools or parts inside hood after I work on the car. It happens when you are hurrying things up.
I better watch out for towels now
